And I'm all for it. Everyone should be able to pick a "passive" over "active" skill/feature in many spots during leveling. It's for noobs, drunks, and players too tired to think.

They could even make it + 1d4 so it's extra uniform and always adds something, and then you have a second die to work with. And I'm all for it. Everyone should be able to pick a "passive" over "active" skill/feature in many spots during leveling.
but it should be good at least.
make it d12 and it's good.
The problem has never been the simplicity of flex, the problem is it just sucks. Make it +2 damage straight up, or +1d8 on a crit, or something. You can keep it simple, just make it good.Literally the only time I got to playtest the last packet, the fighter picked flex because they wanted a simple option.
There's dozens of them! And I am happy there is a choice for them.
technically it isn’t +1 to damage. It’s fine this way because it makes sense. You always get to use it when you hit. No saves, no conditions, no negation by monster immunities. The problem has never been the simplicity of flex, the problem is it just sucks. Make it +2 damage straight up, or +1d8 on a crit, or something. You can keep it simple, just make it good.
Not just them, but also players that aren’t looking to add one more thing to track on already complex characters. It’s there for the folks who’s eyes glaze over when they look at all the masteries and their effects and ask the DM “uhh… Is there one that just lets me do more damage?”
We shouldn't punish them for any of those things. Contrary to... everything they do in its name... simple and easy doesn't have to suck. It's for noobs, drunks, and players too tired to think.
