D&D 5E (IC) Vault of the Dracolich (Ensemble)

A group of volunteers consisting of Terrus, Drako, Lorenn, and Torbin is gathered near one of the sending stones. After some time passes, the stone gives off a high-pitched hum, and the four brave souls disappear in a flash.

The remaining group carefully returns to the kayaks and works their way back to the relative comfort of that morning's campsite.

OOC: And we will return to the River Gang thread! I will send invites.

Group Assembly

Coordinating through the sending stones the Dispensables and the River Gang returned to the relative safety of the underground lakes. The Dispensables made their way from the Dracolich's Audience Chamber, over a twenty-foot ledge down to the Hydra's Pool. Worn and weary, they carried four bodies of mercenary guards with them, sliding them along in the mud past the now hours-old corpse of the multi-headed beast.

The River Gang brought their prisoner, the Wizard Zalena, with them, past a Bhaalite Obelisk, down a long tunnel to the Rift, where the lakes poured their water down a seemingly endless chasm. They carefully passed the Ropers who clung to the ceiling far above, lazily drooping their tentacles into the water as it cascaded over the falls.

Both groups found themselves in the Lower Lake, and they followed the tunnel to the Pit of Teeth. There was only one way in, one entrance to defend. There they found that the Lizardman Guldred, and his three surviving Lizardfolk had not yet left to return to their homeland. With Drako's ability to roughly speak their language, they were able to convince the grateful lizardman (the River Gang had returned his authority amongst his people to him, and had killed his main rivals) to keep watch on the tunnel while they had a much-needed rest.

It was only midday, so no-one was in particular need of sleep. The rest consisted of checking wounds; removing, cleaning, and repairing armour; having a light meal; and getting to know one-another. Then it was time to compare notes, share found items, and discuss future strategies and potential tactics for the battle to come.

In the mud, the group drew a map, covering all the things they knew of the area under Blackpeak. Zander filled the group in on a few places they were unaware of, and pointed out a Bhaalite Obelisk that they had not seen:

Entering the Lizards cave, Lorenn joined the River Gang with a long face. Sadness could be seen in his eyes and he didn't engaged conversation for a while. He sat on his bag, petting and whispering to Eko before he lets her go, halfheartedly, do her job.

OOC:
Eko flyes trough the caves and tries to reach the new obelisk to check the place out and maybe to observe the defenses set up.

OOC: Which way is Eko going to go? There is a door that nearly killed you between the Audience Chamber and the Alchemy Lab. She could try to go through the grotto... How far can you communicate from?

OOC: yep, grotto. She goes now to take advantage of the chaos. She will be already in place, before they'll lock the place up and I will be able to spot through her eyes when I reach 100 feet.

The little bat disappears into the darkness of the lower lake, nervously passing the now-abandoned Stirge Nest. Very quickly she is out of range and Lorenn returns to his own sight and hearing.

Zander lays out his bedroll but only sits down cross-legged on it, his breastplate in his lap. The weird energy that has his muscles aching at the moment seems to have done not so much as a dent to the armor. But out of reflex he tightens straps and takes an oil rag to most of it.

When the other party arrives he gives a small nod to some of the raised eyebrows and odd stares. "Name's Zander," he says putting his work aside. "Imani hired me to infiltrate them Beast Boys, and see what they knew." His face shows the disgust he has for the mercenary company and their savage leader.

"Glad that job is over and done. And all I want now is to see this quest finished, if you'll have me." He looks to everyone with a bit of hope in his eyes, and his heart in his throat waiting.

Dunmire (a mercenary who switched sides when the River Gang and Infiltrators gave him no choice, and gained a small amount of loyalty when SnorLoska saved his life) looks at Zander, surprised. "You work for these guy's boss? I never would have guessed." he turns to Zalena, a Wizard that the River Gang captured, and says, "Would you have ever suspected that Zander was a traitor?"

The woman shrugs, "More surprising than you being one."

Dunmire quiets at the obvious intended insult and looks sullen. (It's clear that Dunmire has the hots for Zalena.)

Mord pulls out the potentially magical objects (including elven relics and statuettes) and lays them out as well as calling for any other objects of interest.

He otherwise ignores anyone else for some time as he sets about ritually identifying everything set before him one at a time and translating any text that he can find.

OOC: Skimming the book for basic information and anything pertinent to our situation at least.[/ooc
