Hey dante dude! :)

A lot I hope....then we can view the progress of a glorious work of art as it's completed.

I'll try and get things done as soon as I can.

Sidenote - Hunefer template...is it done yet or has it been scrapped?

Id love to play a hunefer thats more in line with the epic bestiary.

It hasn't been scrapped but Bestiary 2 is not the immediate priority.

dante58701 said:
Of course Id also like to play a dust lich. A mid-step between demilich and akalich

You'll have to create one then, :p

dante58701 said:
it would go kinda like this....lich - demilich - dustlich -akalich...though what would come after that is anyones guess. But I have my heart set on a dust lich.

Check out the Bestiary thread.

I suggest...

Skeleton < Lich < ? < Demilich < Akalich.

Dust Lich actually sounds a cool concept, but I am not sure its warranted as much as some transition template between Lich and Demilich. But that shouldn't stop you creating a cool Dust Lich monster.

dante58701 said:
I wish someone would create a convergant lich. You know...a group of liches get together and become one conjoined lich. I know people have done this with demiliches...but Im more looking for an irrevocable conjoining.

Look at the second photo from this movie...

That way I can finally make the darkest god of my realm....the demilich city. Its a city made of the skulls of billions of demiliches. A city that grows very slowly, but very surely. It all started with a group of demiliches fouling up a ritual to create a living wall. It only sucks in liches and demiliches, so akaliches more or less roam freely as the masters of this dire city.

:D

To date...no character has ever gone there, but theyve had to fight the plethora of undead that flow freely from that horrid place.

Keeping in mind that in this world evil has ruled for millions of years, which is about how long it's taken the city to get to its current size, even with the endless hordes of necromancers and liches that worship this place.

A dead world, interesting...although billions of demiliches...!?!?

Billions of undead I can understand, but billions of demiliches. Thats like saying billions of demigods. Assuming 30th-level minimum for each demilich. There is 1 30th-level character for every billion characters. Which means a bare minimum of quodrillions of people. Probably the entire population of a galaxy needed to justify 1 billion demiliches.

By the way I haven't responded to your post in the Grimoire thread yet because I want to look through my magic items list and post up something for you guys to chew on, but I just been distracted by other things. :o

Thanks U-K!
But we 'll have to wait for a several months to have Ascension 100% completed (i'm talking about the Template) , if the template are in the books (few pages i suppose) the book will be complete.

Yes but I don't intend on putting those Templates in Ascension at all. So I don't understand what you mean?

Hi Pssthpok matey! :)

Well I lost about 26 days on the cover, so that through the plan of having it finished for 1.0 out the window so to speak.

It seems a 1.3 is a possibility. :o

Ah, that's cool. Too bad about that [Spell] [Effect] thing, though.
Will you have Resonance by the 1.3 Ascension? This is an idea I think will weigh heavily IMC, so I'm stoked to see what you've cooked up.

Perhaps, or a really stringent breeding and necromantic training program on a world with necromancers pretty much being the primary population. For each of them transformation into a lich was the ultimate test of worthyness. And this was over a vastly expansive time period.

The world wasnt quite dead though, it was just constantly on the verge of death. It always had that oppressive ....when the :):):):) is it going to end....feel.

Nice pic by the way....all those little skulls. As for demigods...in my campaigns there is one demigod that arises from the world every year. These demigods keep the demiliches from completely ruining the world. They in turn are ruled over by a vastly powerful triumverate of old ones who make sure the demigods never ascend. Afterall, who wants competition. These old ones are both benign and evil and are constantly bickering.

All of this while mortals struggle just to find their next meal.

Some mortals get lucky and manage to overcome the lesser undead that dominate everything. Then they kill the necromancers that come after them.

When the necromancers fail...the demiliches punish them for failing and go back to sleeping.

The akalichs just sit on their thrones and keep the demiliches from flying apart and mangling the world. Though they rule, they are more figure heads than anything.

The ultimate goal of the necromancer nation is to find "THE ONE". A human born with the powers of an akalich, though possessed of a corporeal form. "THE ONE" is destined to find "THE KEY" and open the gates to the realm of the old ones.

This of course will put a final end to the war between good and evil.

One side will win....the other will be no more than a memory.

And mortals are destined to find "THE ONE". Of course their choices will affect whether or not "THE ONE" sacrifices itself to save humanity....or sides with the akaliches to destroy all creation.

Arrr. Mayhap there be some sea-related feats or Divine abilities that could be suggested. The SRD be about as useful as a blank map when searchin' fer pirate-type rules booty, but there be other sources t'get inspired from.

I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings but...

Hey all.

In honor of the day, Crow's_Nest_Krust, be ye plannin' any piratey material to be added to the booty that is the Immortal's read-book trove?

Unfortunately I have just been keel hauled by the publishers, so no piratical stuff and no update on Wednesday.

Basically I have been having a lot of trouble with the logo for the Immortals Handbook, the publisher has told me in no uncertain terms that I pretty much need the whole thing done by Thursday or the book won't launch this year ~ I don't have to tell you thats not palatable to my financial situation.

I have been working on and off on the logo, and its just making me totally stressed out that I can't 'get it'. Basically I won't be able to work anymore on Ascension between now and Thursday, and while I do have some work done, it really doesn't justify another update (I suppose you could argue neither did 0.8). But the updates themselves take time to sort out.

I'm sorry about the situation, but I am more stressed out than sorry, so its not open to negotiation - I have no other option. I may entertain the notion of an update on the 25th instead. But thats not something I'm going to hold myself to, it may just be better waiting until the 30th.

I don't see myself making too many posts over the next 48 hours but I'm sure I'll look in from time to time.

Again apologies, but the publishers comments were tantamount to "Scotty, we need warp speed in two minutes or we're all dead!"

I basically have everything done, except the logo. Which would likely only take a day of work (two at the most) assuming I could come up with one that I like (I should have had it done a week ago). So I am just going to have to decide on something tonight and get it done tomorrow.

Slightly Whingy Post

Well, on the one hand, cash is needed, and if the other project simply won't fly this year without this done, then you're stuck. Also, like the font change, this is something you need to iron out now: once the series goes live, changing becomes pretty difficult.

But at the same time, it's now the 19th of September, and once again the print edition of the Bestiary has kept Ascension from getting done. Yes, yes, the book has taken years to make: And yes, even in RPG circles, delays of a couple of months aren't unheard of: hell, how many people here remember going back to the bookstore time and again looking for module T2?

It's a bit disheartening to read nothing but tales of woe about the next calamity to befall Ascension: especially after money has changed hands. I know there's little that can be done at this stage (you can't magic it out of thin air to keep us happy) and that, of course, getting the Bestiary into print could potentially ease your cash flow - it's just infuriating for a customer who wants your product to come on and hear nothign but tales of how editing the previous product to fit a publishers demands are chewing up your every waking minute.

Worse still, when Ascension is finished: is converting /that/ to fit your publishers demands going to eat up production of your next product? And after the Bestiary cover, I can't help but feel that there's no real guarantee after this is done that we'll see any marked speed improvement.

Your offer of the beta updates has, however, been a great lifeline that not all people would do@ giving us samples of your product as yuo advance it, and as such allowing us to help you playtest and edit before the "full" product is realised. I don't want to sound ungrateful: I know you're doing what you can, and that getting the Bestiary printed has to take priority with the nature of book printing vs PDF production.

But I've got to confess, if a similar pre-order situation were to arise for the next Immortals book it wouldn't be something I'd be likely to pursue. This whole deal has soured me over the Immortals Handbook - soething which, like my rambling about the fonts before the board crash, may well pass when I get new toys from you to play with, but it's there nevertheless.

Anyway, I want to end on a positive note: I hope you get a good Immortals logo sorted ASAP. It's a tough call to design something that you're comfortable with being the sumbol of your entire product line - but as ever, we'll all be on hand to give you opinions. ;-)

Exactly. Hence the stress.

You have answered your own question ~ I simply can't magic it out of thin air and if I don't get the Bestiary finished for Thursday I'll probably have to give up on the rest of the series for about a year, because I can't support myself on the pdf sales alone (Don't worry I'll still finish Ascension in such a case).

GQuail said:

No, certainly not to the same extent. I now know everything I need to do to get the book to print.

I will have to paint a new Ascension cover, but other than that it will be good to go as soon as its finished.

GQuail said:

Possibly, because I run out of money in approx. 4 weeks (or as far as I can stretch £78) which means sometime before then I'm going to need to get myself a part time job.

The problem is that I want the update to represent a marked improvement. 0.8 didn't and I felt bad about it, this one has slightly more done than that, but in my eyes its basically nothing overtly new.

I understand. I'll never use the pre-order method again and I apologise for taking people down that road.

Its just been a total calamity of errors, everything that could go wrong has gone wrong, financially I'm totally buggered either way.

I may post an early logo idea in a few minutes, so if anyone has any feedback I'd appreciate it.
