D&D (2024) Martial vs Caster: Removing the "Magical Dependencies" of high level.

It came from a magic creature

I mean in the Clark's 3rd laws sense
An assault weapon is high tech in D&D.

"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic"

An assault rifle in FR narratively the same as a magic weapon.
That’s cute but no it isn’t the same as magic
Edit and a demon immune to non magical damage would be in d&d immune to guns.

Nothing in mythology is invincible like things are in d&d

But an RPG that supports a fighter grabbing a random knife and shield for the village blacksmith and jumping into a portal to Hell to kill a named Devil Prince has to be built from the ground up. Only 4e go even close to supporting that with an official houserule.

That's a whole game rework. Doable but it's a lot of work.
DnD support that kind of story since the first edition.

The implication here is that an iPhone would be a better weapon to smack a tarrasque with than a honed mundane sword.
An Iphone is not a high tech weapon.

A modern assualt rifle deals 2d8 damage. Double that of a normal D&D ranged weapon, negating resistance.

DnD support that kind of story since the first edition.
I might be wrong wut weren't many high level 1st edition monsters often immune to nonmagical common weapons.

That was my original suggestion though.

The only real solution that doesn't require rewriting the basis of the core 3 books to to consider high tech or masterwork items as magical.

Any martial with a high tech, masterwork, or special material weapon can be treated as and have the features of a magic weapon.

People said they didn't want that nor to have any requirements whatsoever. So I said "well good luck with your headache."

I said kill them. I'm all for warriors using improved attacks with terrain, rocks, and garbage off the floor to widdle down HP.

You haven’t supported this claim.

Why do you believe that requires a different or rebuilt game?

Because I’m here to tell ya, I’ve got a game of 5e right now that I run that way. The fighter and rogue are lethal to ancient dragons because they’re just that good. Not only is a magic sword not needed, but a less masterful swordswoman with a holy avenger wouldn’t be able to kill the dragon. Wound it, because legendary weapon, but the brave but foolish warrior would still die without truly exceptional luck and cleverness.

But the level 14 fighter (cavalier) has a real chance, as does the duelist rogue. (And the Assassin, but my assassin class isn’t truly martial anyway)

My other games allow for items to simply grow more powerful over time, and it’s never been an issue, while another has Star Wars equipment and magic energy weapons.

That's just damage.

The OP's first post involves flight, teleportation, and plane shifting. And there are even more issues to contend with.

Your fighter can kill a Asmodeus with a teacup. How does he get to Big A without magic?

And Adsodeus can fly and teleport and summon devils. And cast most spells.

The good thing in Hell when you come to slay an ArchDevil there is always someone else who will take a try and equip you.
There is no need to start an adventure full geared the adventure itself will provide you the right stuff.
