[MnM]Awakenings(OOC)

There seems to be one spot left, i would like to take it. I'll come back later tonight with a concept.
Not how it works, feel free to post a concept. Once the concepts are in from all of those who want to play, I'll accept 4 of them, 5 if I feel that its too difficult a choice. Your powers will play a role in the choice, if for example I see a character who is a speedster that has protection tacked on there, I'd be less likely to accept the character then if he were a Super-Strong guy that had the protection extra. I want the powers as tightly bound around a single main power as possible. For example, a fire elemental-ist with alternate form:fire(energy) who has flight, energy blast, and energy field, thats the type of thing I am looking for, not a smorgasboard of, this looks good, and that one would be good in a fight, I'll take both.

Keia, skill points are 2 skill points per power point.

Very dark, I like it. Post-apoc superheroes? Who would have thought? (well, probably not superheros, but same difference)

Working on the timeline, I assume that our characters were frozen in 2007? In addition, you stated you want "Solid" characters; does this exclude certain powers like Alternate Form:Liquid? (I am so NOT funny)

Currently I'm thinking someone with Transmutation and Create Object type powers, or perhaps some kind of Alternate Form (maybe sand or dust)

Keia, except for a few parts, his background is okay. Some things that don't jive are (not your fault, there is just so much info that needs to pass back and forth):

1) His age, not sure how you want to adjust this, I'll give you a more detailed Time line. The war started in March 2004, the draft went into effect in September of 2004. Absolution started affecting people in late 2006, early 2007. It made its way across the Ocean to the United States in the middle of 2007. It spread like wild-fire, if your familiar with the Virgin Field theory, you see where my percentages of the worlds population isn't too teribly out of wack (90-95 of the American Indians died from European sicknesses when they got hit by this phenomenon). The vaccination was discovered in 2009, and administered over the next year as people flocked to what would later be called Hope.

Working backwards, the oldest are 7 when the War starts, and 17 when they are frozen. The youngest are 5 when the War starts, 15 when they are frozen. He would be 10 when he received the Vaccine in 2009, so that makes him 15 at the start of the game, and only 5 when the war started

2) Absolution is 95% or so contagious, if his sister had it, everyone on-board the transport would, so most likely she just was sick in general, and they killed an innocent little girl (definitely fits in with the mood of panic and desperation). Same with your mother, if she had, your entire community had it, unless she knew what was happening to her and barricaded herself away from everyone.

3)When he went back to Hope, he would have been 10, not old enough for a job, he would have been boarded at one of the over-crowded orphanages since most people sent their children first. Having Josiah exploring some of the buildings in Washington is fine, but he wont have had the job.

4)The role of the first person to be examined with the mutated Absolution, is taken, none of the teenagers with the mutated version are famous because of it, in an effort to de-humanize in case euthenasia was required, the only records of the phenomon was a patient number, no records with names were kept. All of the Characters were in batch 4, numbers 00150 to 00200.

Not really super-heros, but then again, sort of super-heros. I really can't describe it any better without giving away a good bit of the plot.

The characters were frozen in 2014, see my above post for a clearer time-line.

I'd like the alternate-form power much more then the other, the way the setting is, certain powers will be problematic, and transmutation is one of those, thats also partially the reason I removed Cosmic power.

Sollir, I'll close the character Concepts on Friday night, if all of the Characters are built by then, I'll Start the game Friday night, If not Friday night, We will be starting by Monday at the Latest.

Thanks for the quick response. I was writing the background while the boards were being finicky, then posted just before leaving work. I'll make the changes and see what you think.

Thanks again,
Keia

Character Name: Connor McGregor
Original Nationality: Scottish

Background
When the war broke out, Connor was six and was living with his family in a farming comunity in Northern Scotland. His two older brothers joined the British military and journeyed to fight the war. Having been wounded in action badly, his eldest brother Ian came home in mid 2006. When the deadly virus, Absolution, revealed itself, it did so with vengeance in the small farming community and surround area. His brother was one of the first to die. The next two years were a horific experience, as people, both family and otherwise, died left, right and center, consuming the area's food stores and bringing near starvation to the survivors.

Despite a strict quarantine by the armed forces, several of the townfolk managed to sneak away when news of the vacination came. His family travelled across the Atlantic to the USA, though of his immediate family, only his father and himself survived the trip. The vaccinations were successful, and both he and his father survived the experience.

His father always had been a hard worker, and his skilled hands at manual labor had him busy constantly in Hope, while Connor was put through the newly forming schools of the new government. Growing up in a semi-backwards state had Connor struggling with his schooling, but he managed to gain passing grades. His personality, like that of his father, was somewhat loud and brunt, but also like his father, he was a kind and generous individual, more than willing to work and always seemingly able to gain friends.

When the new strain of the virus was discovered and the testing done, Connor was 16. His diagnosis was shattering, more to his father than he, but both accepted the cryogenic freezing as a necessity and a duty to their friends and the rest of humanity without a word of complaint.

Description
Connor is tall, standing 6'4". He's broad shouldered and barel chested, with something of a gut and powerful legs. His hair is jet black, worn short, and his eyes are a startling green. He dresses as would anyone of his age, though whenever able dresses in his family tartan, either with a sash or a kilt.

Attitudes
Connor is outgoing, friendly and cheerful generally, but loud and often blunt. His ability to lie is limited at best. He is strong like a bear, but not overly smart. He wants to be a labourer like his father. He makes friends easily, is trusting but not naive, and loves to spend his free time playing the bagpipes.

Hope I did that right. Let me know if anything needs changing, clarifying etc. Even though we don't know we have powers, we can still choose them freely as you described?

I have room for every single person that wants to apply. From the character concepts, I will select the 4 or possibly 5 that most fit the setting, and those 4 or 5 people are the players. This is not first come first serve, the players with the best Characters will receive preference.

Everyone who wants to apply needs to have a well thought out character concept up by Friday, preferably with a character sheet, (Sooner is better as it gives the chances to work out issues, but Friday is the Deadline)
