need help with my character

Hi there,

Do you think it is a good idea to have my 6th lvl dwarven fighter (17str-18con-14wis) to take lvls as cleric from 7 to 10th lvl? Will he be able to use his chain spike (second prefered weapon)?

Depends on your character idea and your role in the party.

There is no restrictions of the weapons that Cleric can use so spiked chain is OK.

What is your first fabourite weapon? If it's warhammer there is quite cool PrC in netbook of classes called Hammer of Moradin (or insert name of any main dwarven pantheon here)

My dwarf fight with a rock krusher from Q Dwarf, it really rocks :)

He really try to understand more and more how he can better serve his god.

There is a restriction to the weapon that a cleric can use: No slashing weapon.

I could think your character being well suited for cleric or paladin... of course if your CHA is low cleric is better.

There are now weapon restrictions at least in SRD (some deities even have slashing weapon as favored weapon) so you should ask you GM wheter spiked chain suits your dwarven deity or not.

Since Rockcrusher is basicly big hammer, you should check Hammer of Moradin and ask your DM if you could use hammer related powers with your Rockcrusher.
That PrC would be good for devoted follower of dwarven deity.

There is no weapon restiction for the cleric in the PHB, besides the fact that they may only use simple weapons (if they don't multiclass or don't take weapon pro. feats.)

They can use everything - but if they ain't proficient with it, they get the usual -4 penalty on attack rolls.

But there's really no mystic force that keeps your clerics from wielding a greatsword - I think with the advent of 3e Ao and the other overpowers started to shoo them away :D (along with the mystic powers that kept paladins from learning the arts of wizardry, or dwarves from becoming paladins and elves from becoming 20th-level wizards). But they're still there. Hiding. In the heads on to much a veteran unable to cope with change!

That's what I meant when I said "besides the fact that they may only use simple weapons (if they don't multiclass or don't take weapon pro. feats.)"
