(OOC) Planescape: Intrigue

Please don't be. I understand that it's an ambitious goal. I think your character and writing are very compelling, and I would love for you to remain with that posting rate.

With your permission, I'm wondering if it's okay to make minor decisions to move things along with your character. We can always retcon if you don't think that's what the character would do, or prefer her to do something else.
This works for me. I just got my main office computer back, so that side of the equation is taken care of, at least.

I'm wary of burning a spell slot to cast Misty Step in our first encounter, so what do the rest of you think we should do?

I've got plenty of ranged attack spells, so if my character can get to cover he can fire back.

One idea is those of us who can do ranged attacks fall back to cover and attack while Kachilk'cha climbs the wall.

cool post.

I have darkvision - and probably most of the party does as well, - can we see how many assailants are in the windows? Also, how high are the windows? I could levitate up there.

Yeah, I was thinking of going straight in to melee. My AC is pretty good, even if my combat abilities are lukewarm. PS: getting up there will soak a 2nd level spell.

If we're in range of bows then our enemies are within range of Eldritch Blast.

If hitting them with an attack roll is an issue my character's other attack cantrips either have useful secondary effects (Mind Sliver and Vicious Mockery) or hit harder if enemies are already wounded (Toll the Dead).

Screw it, I just cast one of my bigger spells. I'll try to sneak in and flank them.

He's not exactly a team player since he doesn't really know everyone. Ideally, I'd have cast Invisibility on the Thri Keen and she could go all predator on them. He will work better with the group once he figures out your skill-sets.

The wagon is 10 feet away towards the side of the road, the bend is about 50 feet ahead (2 rounds), and it's about 30 feet (1 round) to retreat backwards. It would take at least 1 round to get to a door assuming it wasn't locked

It appears we're playing without Initiative, but it doesn't bother me.

Not sure I can picture the alley right though: the attacks are coming from buildings on either side so what I have in my mind now is:

EAST = building with attackers
WEST = building with attackers
NORTH = alley continues, 50ft to next bend
SOUTH = where we came from

and the cart somewhere 10ft away but pretty much still in the middle. Is that the way you have devised the situation?

Overall the best choice would be to run away back from where we came, as we haven't noticed signs we're being followed, provided this would be enough to get out of the attackers' line of sight (not sure if that would be the case, but since you mentioned 1 round to go back, I read it so that our characters think it would mean back to safety before next volley). Going forward takes longer and we don't know where it leads. The doors might be locked, and if that's the case we'd have wasted a round and still be sitting ducks.

How much protection does the cart offer? Even if can get under it for full cover, we're still stuck in the location: we'll need to get out eventually, so why not get out now by retreating, while we still might have that way unblocked?

But anyway, if we're going to fight, let me ask a couple more questions (if our characters have a chance to know):

  • how many bolts were fired, more or less?
  • from which side and windows are most attacks coming?
  • are the walls up to the windows suitable for climbing with dexterity?

Given that the ambushers have higher ground, cover presumably as good as what we can get or better, can't be seen, and have splash weapons, I don't think a fully ranged combat is a very good choice for us...
