OOC: The Enemy Within, using 4E

Insight - I like what you've done there, that really helps integrate the two, thanks. I have to say I found it hard to imagine a place Avenger or Invoker was when I read through PHB2, I guess the idea is to give each power source one of each of the character roles, but it felt a bit forced. Might seem more natural in play. Bard seems a bit too magical for a musical type. Shamans might fit amongst the primitive cultures (likely greenskins, possibly further parts of Kislev, maybe Wood Elves).

WD - yes, that looks like plenty of info.

I'm going to look into this more over the weekend and hopefully start official recruitment next week.

Troll Slayer: Dwarf Barbarian or Warden

I still think that Barbarian and Warden don't fit a Slayer. Maybe a feat that let's you use Con mod + 3 for AC (going up by 1 for each additional tear; basically the equivalent of using hide armor) but you are never allowed to wear any armor. Combined with the battlerager fighter option from martial power, it would be how I would imagine a slayer.

Not taking the form of the winter herald or falling into frostwolf rage and doing cold damage with your rune axe.

I'm (also) deeply interested in a Warhammer game marching to 4e rules.

I think both avengers and monks would make excellent mechanical adaptations of a dwarven slayer. That said, barbarians wearing hide armor doesn't seem like that big of a problem to me. Just say the attacks glance off of your beard/mohawk/bracelets/golden nosering armor!

Real dwarves block with noserings.

In the interest of playing a gunslinging, hard-boiled Witch Hunter, I'd like to submit as a suggestion the following houserule (stolen from a very nice DM over on myth-weavers.com):

All ranged weapons may be refluffed to guns with the addition of the keywords High Crit and Misfire (On the roll of a natural 1, player immediately takes 1[W] damage).

Simple, effective, and it adds some fascinating depth to the already existing list of ranged weapons.

Slayers are disgraced warriors that seek to die in battle and shun armor. So hide armor would be a problem, as the higher level magic-like rages.
Problem for monks and avengers is that the slayers often started as regular warriors, favoring str and con... Forcing them to abandon their strengths sound to good, as would be why this former warriors had bad stats for being fighters. I still think my feat suggestion above is the best option.

Sounds like troll-slayers ought to be an entirely martial type; I agree with WD about the supernatural raging effects of the barbarian, which seem out of place in Warhammer even allowing for a higher magic level than is usually assumed for the setting. As yet, though, I've not got enough experience of the system to suggest alternatives.

Still reading through, will start recruiting soon.

I'd like to throw my hat into the ring, if you'll have me. Sounds like an interesting background for adventure. Personally, I'm leaning toward a dwarf rogue...

What is it with all the dwarves?

I'm a bit slow with getting this thing off the ground; I work for two universities, one real, one virtual and so the start of term, twice, has eaten up quite a lot of my time. Watch this space, though, as I'm still interested in pursuing this project.

I think the only game I've seriously played a Dwarf in was Warhammer Online. >.> Something about WH dwarves appeals more than the normal dwarf... I can't place it though since I don't know if there's much difference between a WH Dwarf and any other.

well, I'm sure there are lots of details to work out, when time and schedule permit. I threw out the dwarf rogue idea as that was the theme :D. I'm happy to play any roll needed.
