D&D 5E (OOC) Vault of the Dracolich 5E (Full)

Nope, you haven't gone since we fused the threads. Everything is in the Infiltrators thread at the moment. Drako can just see the standing cultist if he runs down the hall (at the top) otherwise it's a prone target. I assume he and Torbin (who I haven't resolved yet) will go for the standing guy with their ranged attacks.

Hopefully it shouldn't take long to finish this one, then we can get the last Idol and go for the Grand Finale. (Which is still pretty big, so we're not done yet, but getting there!)

Oh, that burn salve that also maximizes hit dice results? We should give that to the tanks, esp if we take a short rest... we can then save a few healing potions as back ups.

The battle balm... the tanks too, although archers could help as well.

BTW, If anyone remembers (or not), way back when we started I was allowing people to stack relevant tool proficiencies with skills. Now that Xanathar's is out, they have a pretty great (IMO) official system in place for making tools much, much better than they used to be. We'll be going with that here.

The simple version is: If you think a tool proficiency should stack with a skill check, you get advantage on the skill check. (If you use the tool, or if your training in the tool might apply).

Okay, so I've been giving out hints about the overall plot for awhile, but I figured I'd spell it out (it's been long enough that you've probably forgotten whatever hints and details I've given you, even if you understood any of them in the first place).

This also presents a problem: If you take a short rest, you're going to have to deal with a new Dracolich Simulacrum. Probably more powerful than the last one. A long rest is right out, because you took one only a few hours ago, so with the rules of "only 1 long rest in a 24 hour period" you'd need about 21 hours to take one, or whatever.

What I'd recommend (seeing as I don't think it's possible to go on without a short rest). Is we send a smallish group (1 character per player) to go get the last Idol (pick your healthiest character. If you only have 1 character, or no healthy ones, we use some of the alchemist's resources on you). Then we take a short rest as close to the Inner Vault as possible. If the Dracolich comes out, one group takes him on while the other goes to steal the Staff. If not, everyone goes in and one group takes him on while the other steals the staff. Same difference.

I suppose Torbin could keep going. He still has an active mark and a few spell slots yet unspent. (Could cast an Alarm(or two) and Cordon of Arrows to help the resting party defend, or at least know about any invading simulacrum with some warning time. Mord though needs at least an hour and 10 minutes if he can. (To fully ID the dagger.)

Squirrels are evil!

Just saying, if we level up to 7, Pyrus can switch out Detect Magic for Catnap, from Xanathar’s Guide to Everything. It lets 3 people take a short rest in 10 minutes.
