I think the main reason we took lobg rests was we didn't get a lot of short rests which ended up forcing the heals to use up their spells faster because we couldn't burn HD. Bob hadn't had a chance to use a single HD when he died despite fighting about 5 encounters worth of stuff.

Really? That's not how I remember it. Let me look back...

Fight One (Switchback) is over... me: "You can have a short rest but you'll be looking for the Trog caves in the dark." Tglassy: "We can rest when we get there".
Fight Two (Trogs) is over... me: "you can take a short rest". You "After having a good rest and a hearty helping of snake steak, Bob stands up and stretches." (Spent hit dice).

Did you mean AFTER your first long rest? (Which you got after fighting the bug), in the Trog-cave.

That's probably true, but then the Dispensables teleported into the very middle of the Temple, opened all the doors and Bob refused to ever pull-back or leave.

(I hope this isn't coming across as an argument, I'm honestly interested in your recollection of things!)

Yes, although, we were basically penned in by circumstances and even when we went one way, were followed from other ways. The only time Bob refused to run away was when he was already fighting the beast and basically all by himself trying to hold the bad guys off long enough to give the others time to escape. But that was the 4th and 5th rooms worth of bad guys all at onceand/or in a row. As far as I could tell.

I will admit, we probably could have taken a short rest and pushed on after that Ankheg fight with a short rest. Assuming we didn't use the shrine port. Sesto to was low on spells though.

Well I only have Kurzon, BUT he will require a lot of healing to get him up to being useful. He only has 3 HD left to use.

Udit will go and has enough HP to be firing from the rear (that and he's my only character in this mega-adventure). It's just the tanks I worry about.

(Bobranthus got off on the wrong foot with Udit and never got the chance to make up for it, but Udit does respect and appreciate Kurzon and Snorloska).


Who else can tank? Zander? Can Lorenn? Some of the Genasis?

Terrus absolutely can.

Zander is also hurt 13/59 hp, but could dodge, distract, or help during any fight.

Okay, Let's look at a party of Drako, Udit, Kurzon, Zander, Sesto, Torbin, and whichever Genasi Tglassy prefers.
