PBP advice/discussion

Last (and only so far ;)) combat, from which that map linked in the above-linked post was taken, was 15 rounds, which were done in only one week. That was running pretty smooth. :)

Of course, I do one round at a time, with payers declaring actions at the beginning of the round, and I put them into context then in a summary.

I had opened an extra topic for combat action declaration (I do the game in a german forum, where every game has its own subforum) and in the IC there only are my one round summary posts (plus the regular out-of-combat IC, of course), this way the IC is very well readable still (there is no OOC in the IC thread at all (except for a wound status at the end of each combat round)).

Bye

Not right now (it's 5:30 AM here, tired more than I've been in a long time), but when I'm able to access the boards regularly I can clear combat rounds really fast. That has a lot to do with me being impatient though, I like to handle 3-4 rounds of combat at a time once I'm comfortable with what the players are each going to do.

I don't have much to speak for right now though, my updates have been slowed down pretty bad for the past two weeks or so, and a week before that it wasn't too good either. But once I get back to my better PC and connection, I think I'll be going on a crazy updating spree (I'm REALLY excited by my dragonlance game and the two LEW adventures I have going that should end in a month/month and a half).

Whoa Thanee.. very nice! :)
I like those maps, too. S'pose you're speaking of that. :)

They are fairly simple to do with some minimal understanding and a decent gfx program (like photoshop, paintshop pro, or the gimp (free)) to do the tiles (using existing pictures and just scale them properly, edit some, and that's it) and offer a great tactical overview. And once you have the icons, it's just some text editing to change positions and such, so updating the maps is a process of 1-2 minutes only.

And the script is free. :)

(Hey, Brother Shatterstone. Just realized you've never been in a solo fight. We need to change that :)
Oh I have my own solo campaign where I'm the only player... I've hard lots of solo fighting so don’t do me any favors... ;)

I make simple, ugly maps using Paint Shop Pro; useful since everything can be done as layers and with objects, so things can be moved around easily when you make updated maps.

I never thought your maps where ugly, but it doesn't matter there functional so what could one need? :)

Oh for all the mapmakers that uses attachments... The board is set up to limit you to 1 meg of total attachments so eventually you'll need to pull your old ones down... :(

People who use webspace and simply use the insert image tool will not encounter this error. :)

I guess you do that by editing the original message? Hunting all those down will be a pain... I might switch to putting my maps on my webspace then, unless there's a quick way to 'clear' your attachments.

Well I found it out the hard way the other day... When you run out of room you get an error and it gives you an option to click on a link and it will display all of your previous attachments… :)

Of course it may not work for normal users, I honestly do not know, because it could be tied into the search feature… :\

I’m at home right now and suffering the indigently of dial up so it will be a few before I can overload my attachments and get that link for you… (it’s in progress.)

Okay... That didn't take to long, then again I think I made to posts in the mean time...

Anyhow looks like good news, I think it will work for the normal users. :)

Link

Thanks. Cool and useful, except... it doesn't seem to have appreciated that I uploaded half a dozen maps each with the same name (round by round). It will only let me delete one of the six. But now that I know to use different names each time, it shouldn't be a problem. But I'll still need to track down those other 5 and try to delete with 'edit message'.

Edit: Correction, there are links to the messages on the page, so I don't need to track them, but... they're in a closed thread, which I presume is why it won't let me edit.
