Ikni shoots Ironheart a grateful glance, then splashes off through the muck. She darts toward the hag, grimly determined to keep the thing from hurting her friends. Her sword comes around, and tendrils of force reach for the woman's limbs, clutching at them.

[sblock=actions]I'm not entirely clear which square I'm in, so here are some contingency actions.

If Ikni can get adjacent to the hag without charging: Do so, then mark it w/aegis, then attack with Foesnare: hits AC 26 for 10 damage, and she's immobilized until the end of my next turn.

If there's too much difficult terrain to allow that movement: Forego the marking, and just charge the hag with Foesnare. As above, except with +1 to hit for charging.

In general, I would suggest we take down the choker first, then the Cloak Guy, and finally the hag – simply in order of who likely has less hp remaining.

In practice, round-to-round target priority will likely be based on power-specific tactics, though, so it’s pretty much inevitable that we’ll spread our damage around (even more). For instance, Rhole isn’t going to use his encounter attack on the hag since it deals thunder damage and she has that resistance.

At least if Ikni’s position fits the latest map update, I would again suggest that she be able to get adjacent by leaping the last square (automatic success with her Athletics mod).[/sblock]

Beneath Ikni, the water roils and glows. Any water, however stagnant, may still be a conduit for Netari's power. But Derien's mind isn't on his catechism. "Is that all there is to the lords of the fey? Idle scheming and empty plots? What a waste this trip has been."

With blood streaming from her nose and still reeling from the psychic and sonic (and radiant) onslaught, Haruka still manages to snarl a response back at the fey.

"Because he's a sadist, just like every other denizen of this gods-forsaken forest? It never occurred to me that he was clever enough to have an ulterior motive. Or that he was smart enough to know what 'ulterior' means."

She clenches her hand into a fist, causing black and red flames flare up around it. She reaches out to touch the Lady, but as soon as her fingers make contact, the flames die out, with only a few sparks jumping to the Lady's clothing. Haruka stares at her empty hand in surprise. For once there is no anger in her eyes, only shock and fear. While Haruka stares at her hand the woman smacks the warlock in the face with her staff.

Reaching behind her, she tries to grab onto the bridge with her left hand. However, since her gaze is still locked on her right, she fails to find a handhold.

Rhole staggers as the hag’s scream wash over him and vanish with another puff of stage smoke (the kind you’d use for cheap concert effects). There’s the sound of giddy footsteps and a raspberry being blown as Rhole leaves his cloaked aggressor stranded.

A burst of hard aggressive amplified tones erupts from just behind Derien, startling the elf enough to almost dive headfirst into the swampy lake. The heavy uncompromising music is directed with particular appeal to Haruka, though, who feels her confidence restored and vigor enough to hop back on the bridge.

Rhole reappears as the music rises in a crescendo that tears at the choker’s mind, but not enough for it to lose its focus.

“Let’s take the groove to the groves, crew! This swampy soup that our hostess favors swimming in, is cramping our style.”

Ironheart bulls into the creature again, trying to stretch its disturbingly long arms past the breaking point and force it to let go of Ikni. As it staggers back he presses on relentlessly after it, ignoring the hideous cracks in his bark. "Get away well you can!" he yells to the swordmage.

Ikni shoots Ironheart a grateful glance, then splashes off through the muck. She darts toward the hag, grimly determined to keep the thing from hurting her friends. Her sword comes around, and tendrils of force reach for the woman's limbs, clutching at them.

The choker now turns its attention to the enemy in front of him, "I shall feast on you forest guardian, you should not have interfered" it hisses but the tough skin of Ironheart proves stronger than the creatures grip.

The woman just shakes her head with a sad look on her face as Ikni slashes her with the blade. "Oh dear, no I'm not ready to play with you yet" she says in a honey sweet voice. Her form grows hazy for a moment, then disappears, and she reappears on the bridge. She looks at Rhole over her shoulder "Now don't you go anywhere sweety, once I'm done with your friends we can talk" as she unleashes another shriek at the others. Ikni avoids it, but Haruka and Derien feel the howl in their bones.

The cloaked figure rushes forward, hoping to catch Derien while he's disoriented, but Ikni slashes at its shins at it runs by. The attack is enough to cause the cloak's blade to just miss its target.

Choker attacks Ironheart - 1d20 9=16, 1d8 3=7, but just misses

Woman uses Fey Step to move to F11, then uses Howl - vs Fort (Haruka, Derien, Ikni); Thunder Damage (1d20 6=18, 1d20 8=27, 1d20 8=11, 1d6 3=7) Hits Haruka (despite the cover) & Derien for 7 thunder damage (but she doesn't push), Ikni's missed.
psychic dmg (1d6=3) 3 damage if you end in aura 5

Derien's getting light-headed, and in his soul he can feel Netari's power ebbing. I'm sorry, friends; I can't protect you anymore.

His companions are meaningless now. He drops them from his attention, and the battlefield grows quieter. He steps off the bridge, away from the cloaked darkness, and the battle grows quieter yet.

Now all that's left is the hag. The lady of nightmares. The ruler of this wretched pond. A torch in the darkness, glowing with hellfire. Derien's vision narrows, until she's the last thing in the world.

"Fey aren't special. I don't know what I expected."

Derien drops his bow, puts both hands to his strange new holy symbol, and pours out Netari's wrath.[sblock=Actions]Can I overhaul Derien and trade in Turn Undead for Healer's Mercy right away? Like, before my next action? No? Well, in that case:

Move: Shift to I11.
Minor: hunter's quarry the hag.
Standard: Lance of Faith the hag, misses.
Action Point: Cascade of Light the hag with Divine Fortune. 9 versus Will, 30 damage. That's not going to cut it. Elven Accuracy: 24 versus Will. Thank you, IC. I was going to be pissed that it took me like ten minutes of timeouts to make that roll, but whatever, it's fine, all is forgiven. The hag gains vulnerable 5 to my attacks (save ends), though her aura is probably going to drop me at the end of this turn anyway disregard that, it deals 3, I have 5 hp, thanks THB. I'll use my Symbol of Good Fortune; I get a +2 power bonus on the next attack I make before the end of my next turn.

Speaking of which, we'd best finish the hag this turn. Another area attack would wipe out half the party. By my count we've got 54 damage on her now, so it should be doable.[/sblock]

Hey, the choker didn't grab me! Sweet. On my turn, if the hag's still alive, I'll charge her with +2 to hit for Fearsome Ram (I can do it sine I also have +2 speed). Don't let that stop the rest of you from killing her first, though, if you do that I'll stay here and keep the choker busy.

Haruka watches her allies fight around her, and then looks back to her hands.

I can't help them. I'm done. My fire's gone out; I have nothing left.

No. That's not true. There's still one source of fuel remaining. I still have one thing left to burn.

Gods, this is going to hurt.

Haruka clenches her eyes shut and pulls her arms to her chest. She stifles a scream as her entire body erupts in familiar black and red flames. Her clothes do not even smolder, but her flesh appears to be constantly burning, regenerating, and then burning again. She staggers out from under the bridge and into clear sight of the Lady. Haruka notices the cloaked figure and opens her mouth to speak, but all that comes out is a strange croaking noise and a puff of black smoke. Shaking her head, Haruka extends a hand towards the Lady. No fire comes from those surrounding Haruka, but the flames on the Lady's clothing flare up, burning her badly. Haruka winces in pain, and the flames on the fey grow even larger. Although Haruka is near collapsing, her burned lips part to form a rictus of a grin.

[sblock=Actions]Move: Move to H15, gaining concealment from Shadow Walk, not that it will help against aoes.
Minor: Curse the cloaked guy.
Standard: Hellish Rebuke the Lady. Hits Reflex 20 for 8 fire damage and 1 untyped.

At the end of my turn, I take 3 damage from the aura, triggering the secondary damage of Hellish Rebuke. Oh, and how much is that, you ask? 10 (linked above). That's right, 19 damage with an At-will. How do. You like. Me. Now?!

If that doesn't drop the Lady, some else needs to do it.[/sblock]

The fires in Ironheart's eyes seem to flicker low as his toughened bark locks together and settles into a fixed, inflexible trunk. Soon the choker faces only a tree, growing from the swamp, albeit one with a rod and an axe embedded in it.

Ironheart is visibly growing, the rents in his bark knitting together and new shoots and leaves appearing from the tips of his branches. Tendrils from his roots trail out into the swamp, growing in a stronger grip around the choker's legs, showing that even as he sleeps he is not totally insensate.
