They haven't tried to kill you....yet. Besides they can't throw those longswords 20 squares either.

rock provides cover, or total cover if prone. The trees currently around Haruka and those next to Derien are a bit larger and provide total cover if more than 3 squares deep. The saplings (around Z10 and V10 and U5) provide and grant cover if attacking from behind them. Cliff on right side is 15 ft up, DC 15 athletics to climb. River requires DC 18 athletics to avoid being pulled 3 squares downstream. The ditch is only around 7-8 feet deep though so no falling damage.[/sblock]

Oh, very sneaky. I can get to within 3 squares of them with a charge, but that's not close enough.

I can use my new daily Nature's Abundance to make a zone of cover (burst 3), which'll give us an advantage when trading shots - we've got enough ranged attackers that I think that might be a good idea. Don't forget we can use each other for cover too. (By which I mean, everybody stand behind me.)

Where should I put it? I'm thinking centered around V8, right between the trees and the rock. Except that might be too far up, nobody but me could get there this turn. I could put it across the road at around AA3 - that's easier for everyone else to get to, and it gives us a clear shot straight up with no trees in the way.

I think V8 is better. AA3 is within bowshot, but I think I'm the only one with a bow so that's not super-useful, and all the other ranged powers are range 5 or 10. It's ok if it takes us two turns to get set up.[/sblock]"We've killed a dozen fools already; why be among them?" Good point.

Ironheart looks at the arrayed opponents, eyes narrowing in their deep-set hollows. He studies the trees that grant cover, turns to look appraisingly at his allies, and turns back to measure the distance to the opponents. He lets out a low hiss.

Suddenly he turns, takes two huge steps towards Haruka, and lifts her from the ground with one branch-like limb. Dangling her above his head, he lopes towards the enemy, covering the ground with his huge strides. As he gains momentum he thunders faster and faster - and suddenly stops, just inside the range of Haruka's attack. He unfolds his fingers and drops her sprawling on the ground, in the middle of the open field. Elven arrows track the two of them as they stand outlined. "There you go," he smiles at her. "You should be able to hit them now."

"And don't worry," he continues mockingly. "I won't leave you unprotected in the middle of the open like this." As he speaks, vines and saplings erupt from the ground all around them, twining around his legs and growing up into a cage around Haruka. The new thickets branches entwine in twisted, grotesque shapes, but they form a solid defensive wall, and obligingly bend out of the way whenever Haruka aims through them.

[sblock=Actions]
Minor: Form of the Fearsome Ram (increases my base speed to 8)
Move: Move to AD14, grab Haruka, and then run to T12 (that's 10 spaces total)
Free: Drop Haruka in an adjacent square.
Standard: Nature's Abundance centered at T12

No, I'm not actually doing this, because T12 is 11 spaces away from the enemies, not 10. So frustrating. I just wanted to post it because I enjoyed it so much. If I could manage to squeeze 1 more square of movement, I'd totally do it.

Hey, Haruka, if you actually want to do this, you could move up to me on your turn and then ready an action to attack as soon as I carry you into range. That would save me the 2 spaces I need to use to move next to you and back. It kind of loses something without the surprise, though.

(Or I could pick up a melee attacker and try to throw them across the river...)

Normally, I'd say probably not, but I laughed as I imagine Ironheart carrying Haruka like a football. I hope one of your fire spells doesn't accidently go off while he's carrying you ;)

[sblock=OOC]I checked that Rhole can also be carried by Ikni without a problem; that could help us cover ground faster.

Regardless, he'll delay until after the meatshields defenders - but before the baddies (I learned that mistake earlier, right Cov? :p)[/sblock]

Ikni unlimbers and hurls a javelin at the nearest swordsman, but the range is extreme, and her cast falls short. Grimly she draws her sword.

[sblock=actions]I count 20 squares exactly to swordsman 20, so I figure the javelin is worth a shot: 11 vs. AC. Never mind... That will take a minor and a standard to do, leaving Ikni just a move action to draw her sword.
