Sell/Give Away Dem Books! Forked Thread: Did You Buy the First Three 4e Core Books?

I rarely get rid of anything, especially my RPG books. The last thing that I sold were a bunch of WEG Star Wars sourcebooks that I hadn't looked at in 15 years, but if I hated something, I'd just sell it or give it to a friend. However, with one exception, none of the of the LGSs in my area purchase or sell used games, so if I was going to sell anything I would have to go to Half Price Books or one of the local used stores (none of which have any 4e books btw, even though I was looking to perhaps buy a cheap 2nd PHB).

Pretty much everything is usable with C&C, so no reason to get rid of anything. Plus I haven't bought any 4E rule books, just the starter set, and Goodman DCC 53, 54, and 55 are in my possession, and all of these are usable in C&C as well.

Even if I did, I'm sure I would find things worth stealing out of them at some time.

I've given away a bunch of stuff to my local animal farm's charity bookshop, but not 4e - I gave away various d20 dreck, notably Bruce Baugh's terrible d20 Gamma World books I'd bought cut-price from Orcs' Nest, and the Sovereign Stone and Kalamar sourcebooks.

Rechan beat me to it!

As for me, the only games I don't like that I have kept are a GURPS basic book (plus some supplements) and 4Ed. Every other one has been donated to the troops or was sold so I could buy stuff to donate to the troops.

Why keep the ones I did?

GURPS was the game I was most likely to be invited to play in the 1990s.

4Ed is the game I'm most likely to be invited to play in the future.

My games club mostly plays 4e, so I may well have use for my 4e PHB in the future. And I really don't think I've fully studied 4e DMG & MM yet. Who knows, I may even run it some time! And it cost me £40. Most of the rubbish I buy, like d20 Gamma World, is severely discounted, like £5 or £7 instead of £20+, so I had a fair idea it might not be great. I'm a bit unhappy with my £18 copy of StarSIEGE though, kinda wishing I'd gone for Mongoose Traveller instead, which people are raving over.

BTW I sold a bunch of stuff on amazon, for lighter books it works out well. Their standard £2.75 p&p does not cover the cost of posting a fat hardback though.

I still have a small stack of 4e player's handbooks I got as a playtester and have yet to sell on eBay. I don't hate 4e, I hate the fact that it's taking up space in my otherwise cramped house.

I tend not to buy such books in the first place. ;)

Bye
Thanee

Me too, though I sell off what I don't use after a while (mostly trades with Noble Knight Games or sell on ebay).

I once bought a copy of the Wildside Fantasy Roleplay System (which I helped playtest). My friends and I hated the game so much (obviously, they didn't listen to my advice from the playtest reviews) that we brought it along on a camping trip and burned the book.

100% worth every second of it going up in flames. My friends that smoke used the burning pages to light cigars.

Betcha not many people have done that one!!
