The Apprentice Finale *Spoilers*

BrooklynKnight

First Post
I just finished watching it on my DVR.

WOW, Randal is a prick. He already won and instead of helping her to also get hired he bagged on her just so he could be "the only" apprentice.

Trump was clearly originally intending to hire them both. I predicted that when he fired 4 people at once for the first time on this season, that he might hire the final two. But Randal screwed that up.

She really deserved the job too.

Oh well.

I agree- Randal could at least have come up with a better reason than "the show is called Apprentice, not Apprenti"- there are already three others, guy!

If he'd have said "I just don't think she's experienced enough yet Mr. Trump" I'd have had more respect for that opinion.

In any case, I read earlier tonight how DT had hired young Andy (from one? two? seasons ago?), so have little doubt that Rebecca will be hired in some capacity.

Still, they couldn't have been any more obvious, IMO, about the fact that they were planning on hiring both- the ads about "a shocking surprise ending", not to mention the lavish praise heaped on both throughout the show, and Trump's statement (when they both chose different projects) about it making his decision easier. I half suspect that Rebecca sensed that might be the outcome when she chose the other project.

Randal seemed very hostile and harsh towards Rebecca at the finale. Not at all like he seemed during the course of the show.

Compelling?

It's not compelling at all? That would imply some sort of continued storytelling for us to follow but it doesnt.

He sold her out and dumped on her. Frankly, if it wasnt for her I think he would have been fired during his foul up at XM Radio....

Look at all the STUPID mistakes he's made! He got the WRONG channel for the radio show, and he forgot to check the weather....

Seriously I wont go as far as to say that he doesnt deserve to win. I'll trust Trumps decision in that, but Rebecca deserved a job too and she got robbed of that for NO reason.

This supposed "nice guy" turned around and was a complete :):):):):):):). His whole nice guy thing was an act to get the job.

Maybe Trump offered her a job offscreen after everyone was over. I sure hope so because she deserved it.

Of all the other players this year, she really inspired me and I liked her best.

I agree with Randal's decision for one reason: it made for some damn compelling television.
I agree completely. It showed that he was The Man. Yeah, it may have been a bit mean but it was in the spirit of what the show should be: business. Randall was going to be damned if he let someone else share or steal his thunder. He earned it, fought through a tough familial loss and dominiated. The one that was closed over the course of the whole show was Alla. Rebecca was very good and impressive for a 23 year old but she was third best behind two established professionals.

There was a storyline, it's all in the editing. It's why we all kept watching.

That was drama edited in there just to put in a little doubt. Trump would have lost all credibility (which he almost did) if he didn't hire Randall.

Yes, he made mistakes just like everyone else did. He's human. Rebecca (who I was routing for just cuz) did earn any money at her fund raiser. That was an equal mistake.

There was a reason: he was the better and proved it. There should be only one Apprentice if the show is to survive and be entertaining at all. If she gets a job in his organization somewhere down the line that's great but Trump is not the end-all that the show makes it out to be. There are bigger companies to work for.

As for the "nice guy" thing just to get the job? That's not what won the game for him. He won because he produced better results over the course of the interview. Bottom line. If Rebecca was as successful (1-2 record as PM) or as well liked (she pretty much just had Toril) she may have had a chance. Again, I was routing for her but the odds were very low that she would would win. Randall would have had to put together a disasterous final task to lose and she would have had to put together a perfect event.

I too, enjoyed Rebecca and was routing for her. But in all she was less qualified for the job. Trump would have been a fool to not hire Randall. It's great to have a happy ending and Trump can do whatever he likes down the road like hiring her but she'll do just fine for herself either way. She's strong, capable and smart. That is a good ending to me. It was the first final boardroom where they were both better off talking about their own strengths than trying to tear each other down (which was Alla's only mistake). They said it right in the show: They were both stars.

Randall stayed the path and that's what happens in business. He earned it, kept the glory and saved Trump from looking a bit foolish like what happened with Rupert. The Apprentice and Survivor are both games where the ultimate goal is one winner. That is what makes it compelling. One winner and everyone else loses.

AMEN! That guy played the nice guy card the entire time and showed his true colors on national TV. I predict Trump keeps him for the requisite year and then fires his arse! What a collossal jerk!

Einan, who is massively disappointed with Trump for listening to the prick

If Trump disagreed with Randall he would have hired Rebecca. He said that he trusted Randalls decision. I have no problem with that. Takes some stones to stick to your guns on live TV.

I so don't get the "Randall is a prick" stuff.

Do the White Sox share their World Series trophy with the Astros?
Do first second and third all get Gold Medals at the Olympics?
Do you offer co-winner deals when you're playing Scrabble or Settlers of Catan?

Randall just spent an hour telling Donald why Rebecca SHOULDN'T be hired. Now he should change his mind just to be nice? It would make his previous words meaningless. What if Trump says "You're too weak (or a liar), you're fired and she's hired."

For those who say Randall played the nice guy card all show, that's not true either. Randall was barely ever in a board room, he never needed to get ugly. And when he and Rebecca stole the megaphones they both showed that they're smart enough to put winning over niceness.

Randall defeated all the obstacles in front of him, he defeated all the other contestants, and he earned his victory. To hold that against him is just petty.

If Trump wanted to hire Rebecca, he could have hired Rebecca. If you hate the fact that Rebecca wasn't hired, blame Trump.

Or try this shoe on for size... Trump knew that by asking Randall, he made for better TV, if Randall says yes, we get the same happy ending, if Randall says no, we're all talking about Apprentice today. Trump chose good TV over hiring Rebecca. So its OUR fault that Rebecca wasn't hired.

So don't blame Randall, blame yourself.

:-D

Trump clearly wanted both.

At the point Trump said, "Rebecca, you’re outstanding. Randal, you’re hired." Randal had already won. Period. Then as a new hire, Trump asked the victor for advice as to whether Rebecca would be a worthy addition to Trumps company.

A less selfish response by Randal, without giving up his triumphalism, could have been, "Mr. Trump, as the victor of this running of The Apprentice, I would advise that Rebecca would make a worthy addition to your company." Especially since Rebecca didn't want the same project as Randal to oversee. Hiring her would have only made the rest of Trump's company that much stronger. Randal couldn't see past the game for the job he had just won. Ah well.
