I'm surprised the Chruch agreed to this given that the Forgotten Realms has no Christianity (only Ravenloft as a setting has Christianity in parts of it as far D&D settings go, such as Gothic Earth), it's very much a polytheistic in religion. They will have to change the Church to resemble one of the Cathedrals of FR, for say Mystra perhaps or Tyr or Sune. This may cause scandal in the Church especially if is one of the real world Gods FR borrows like Silvanus or Tyr.
Anglicans are pretty lenient about this sort of thing. I believe they allowed Harry Potter to film in one of their cathedrals as well...

Edit: Yes, the Anglican Church allowed Harry Potter to film at Gloucester and Durham Cathedrals. So having D&D film at Wells Cathedral isn't much different.

Harry Potter had Christian (and other faiths like Muslims and Jews) in it, so it wasn't converted to a Cathedral to another God.

I mean personally I'm good with it and I see it as progress on the part of the church, and opening of the mind.

Using an Anglican church for a temple to Nobanion would seem apropos, but I'm not expecting anything that clever.

It's possible they are using the grounds or gardens for Medieval feeling establishing shots, not the religious elements.
