They're Bringing Evil Back. ( 3.5 DnD )

Yun again tenses at the drawing of a weapon, but answers with little hesitation. "I think that I am skilled, I have rarely been defeated in combat, I am the only weapon I have need to carry with me."

Yun turns to Serin and stares at his sleaves, "Er, tricks up your... I see. That is another idiom is it not?"

"Yes indeed, that may well be an idiom. I am not the smartest when it comes to rarely used words like 'idiom', however I am the smartest at my craft in the room, no doubt." Serin looks back at Vendan and cocks his head, wondering what he sees in the others. Suddenly his face lights up as if he just had the smartest thought of all time!

[OOC: use the amulet of Translocation to move behind Vendan, and then try to "hide" behind him, while peering over his shoulder, so to try and "look through his eyes". Serin is 2" taller, so it might work? LOL have fun with this little shenanigan, as it is meant to be for fun.]

"We have been summoned to finish the fight against an evil thought vanquished. I live my life as an open book, but it is for you to read the pages I will not read them for you. My intent is clear. This Moathouse will be a crucible and its fires will either temper us into a weapon against evil or burn those of us to weak to withstand it's dark forces. For only those who are true under the Eyes of the Gods can claim victory."

Vendan looks at the priest for a moment and smiles, then turns back to Jayla.

"Ah, trying to turn this on me eh? What exactly do you think we're doing here? Do you think Olster summoned us to take a lovely afternoon stroll through the temple gardens? They don't bring in adventurers to take on simple tasks. We all may be depending on each other for our very lives. We may be depending on YOU for our very lives. How are we to feel confidence in that if all you'll say is to take your word? Sorry, I just met you five minutes ago. My father taught me that teamwork is everything. A good team of lesser-skilled adventurers can beat a group of more powerful individuals. But to build that teamwork, the team members need to be open with each other about their goals and their abilities. You don't build teamwork by keeping secrets. We should be going in with at least with some idea of how much our teammates can be trusted."

"Sadly, from what Olster said of my father, it sounds like he may not have followed his own advice, and went into the temple with some... er... less-than-team-oriented companions. And laid down his life because of it."

Jayla notices Yun's reaction to the weapon, and puts her spear away. You are correct in saying that you should not trust me, since we don't know each other. However, because of that you should not trust me on anything I say. If I say that I will not betray you, it should have just as much merit as if I said that I was looking for a long-lost love who has been turned to stone and used by the temple for decoration and that I merely did not wish him to get dusty. In any event, trust will be won with actions not words. Oh, and if we're to be travelling together, Yun, you should know that I am in no way nobility, and therefor, Lady is not a title I care for.

Yun looks slightly confused at the last bit directed at him, he had never called her 'Lady' nor had he any intention of doing so. "Very well Miss Jayla, I shall not call you 'Lady'. Nor shall I think of you as such."

"If you children are done quarreling mayhaps Lord Gundigoot will answer the questions presented before him." Erik announced in a imperilous tone that sounded more like an command then a question. "You disrespect his house and his deeds by arguing such."
OOC: Erik is old and crotchety so hopefully no one takes any OOC offense to his stick up the butt nature.

Olster's mouth opens to answer Yun's question, but closes it as everything seems to quickly spiral out of control. The old man doesn't interject as he knows it's important to test your team mates, figure things out on your own. A good party works together only after getting to know one another - and if that involves disagreeing in the process.. so be it. After minutes of the debating.. he sighs a bit. Maybe he was wrong. Maybe he should've gotten involved a while ago. Next thing he knew, people were poofing and reappearing.. drawing weapons.. accusing one another of things that haven't even been said. His mouth opens again to quiet them all when Erik does it for him. "To answer your question Yun, if you even remember asking me one, I don't even know if they are definitely clerics. I only assume.. and we all know what happens when one does that." He shrugs, then continues. "About all I knows I've gathered from others. They wear ochre colored robes, and some speak of seeing them go in and out of the moathouse. Granted, the last I heard of that news was weeks ago."

Yun quickly returns his attention to Olster as the elder Gundigoot begins to answer the question he now remembered asking. He frowns in though, as he often seems to do. Waiting for the old man to fall silent before responding "So then... You are not certain that these people are even a threat? They may just be a peaceful but reclusive order of some sort. What then causes you to think that they are evil clerics that intend to do you harm?"
