[WoT Adventure] Turn 3

Lord Tomas' expression turns sour. "So does that mean you are going to threaten me with your special ability too? Claim that teaching me a 'lesson' is worth throwing away your affiliation with the Tower? Bah, you are all the same. Pushing people around for your own ends. No accountability."

One of the girls did that? Either could have, but it was probably Sirsei. She must learn to control her temper, or she will never be Aes Sedai. And that girl has as much potential as I do.

"The girls are not yet bound by the Three Oaths, though Accepted are supposed to live as though they are. If a full sister learned that an Accepted had made such a threat, that Accepted would be in a great deal of trouble. If an Accepted carried out such a threat, she would almost certainly be stilled." Lila said. "And a pair of Accepted certainly would not be allowed out of the Tower without a full sister to oversee them; clearly I am not watching them closely enough."

As Ashrem walked past, he tapped Pedron's shoulder. "Judging by your look, your thinking the same thing I am." he whispered with a sly grin. "We should head back to the inn and give this place time to cool down a bit. Let's just make sure we're seen leaving. We can sneak back tonight and watch from across the road. I don't believe that I didn't see anything."

Besides, the way I feel, I could use the rest."

He nodded for Pedron and the other's to follow and made his way down the street to the inn.

Lord Tomas nods his head in a little relief to find that there is someone to take the young girls' reigns in hand. "Perhaps. Perhaps they need some lessons in proper ettiquete. They wished to accompany myself and some others to see something. When I suggested that they might be more comfortable staying here, they grew angry and addressed me in a manner unbecomming my station. When I attempted to address the issue of respect, they grew insensed and one threatened me with the Power." I give an involuntary shudder, unable to control my expression enough for that.

"They are Accepted? Is that lower than the title...Aes Sedai?" I give Lila a speculative look.

"She should not have threatened you with the Power, but we are not in Tear. No commoner will give you the degree of deference you may be used to. And a Sheinaran noblewoman, or a Domani merchant's daughter, either well on her way to becoming Aes Sedai?"

"Sometimes I forget that most people were not born and raised in Tar Valon. " Though it would be better if they were. I've been to Tear, and the nobles expect more deference from a commoner than a Tar Valoner would give the Amyrlin herself. Lila said. "When a girl comes to the Tower, she is a Novice. When her skills are sufficiently developed, she is tested, and if successful raised to the Accepted, though most novices do not make it that far. After an Accepted has sufficiently proved herself, she is tested again, and if successful raised Aes Sedai."

Pedron decides to head back afterall

Pedron starts to argue, but then thinks better of it. Ash is right--if someone is watching them, it would be best if they were seen to leave. Pedron heads back with the others, but keeps an eye out for anything suspicious.

Lord Tomas shakes his head, "I did not demand deference from the Lady of House Shiawase. She is nobly born. The Domani refused to give even a modicum of deference due any noble, be they Tairen, Andoran, or even Domani."

Lord Tomas smiles politely, "I know I am not in Tear, and I am trying to accustom myself to you Northerner's lack of social structure. I am even making allowances. But for some country girl to upbraid a Noble is more than I can stomach."

[Interesting. So they are not yet Aes Sedai. That is good, Lila...Sedai?" I put on an easy smile, one more of comradeship, "You are the first I've ever seen. If the two girls are the average example of Accepted, then they have a long way to match your wisdom and bearing." I make a leg and bow to Lila.

"Then I can count on you to avoid speaking of some of the more... interesting events last night?" She asks.

The others walk in to the common room just about then, seeing Lila talking to Tomas.

Jain Hadlin

"Can't sat as I was expecting to come back to that seen."

Jain scowls for a second.

"If anybody needs me i'll be in my room, I neglected my forms this morning"

"Shalimar, if you want to talk, after....."

Jain glances at Lila and Tomas, then back at the girls, before leaving to go upstairs.

Shalimar halts when she sees Lila talking to Tomas. Glaring at Tomas she approaches Lila Sedai doing her best to ignore Tomas's odious presance. She inclines her head in a show of respect to Lila Sedai tryng to remain outwardly calm.

I will not courtsey to anyone in front of that man, even if it were the Amerlyn. Well, maybe the Amerlyn but not by choice. He better not have said anything to her about this morning or I'll tan his...

"Yes, yes of couse we will talk Jain, later though." she said, If I am not in trouble about the scene I caused this morning she added too low for anyone to hear.

Watching Shalimar, Sirsei suppresses a grin, I'm glad we seem to be in agreement. That man could spark a rebellion in a turnip field. And he's supposed to be a leader in Tear? No wonder they're so strange if he's typical.

Sirsei glares across the room at Tomas, disgust warring with curiosity over the conversation he might be having with Lila. Still, better not to spark a conflict here, in public. She would let Lila Sedai know exactly what she thought of the man, but not here in the common room. It would be disrespectful.

As a compromise, she nods to Lila Sedai and indicates that she is going up to their room. Then she doesn't look back. If Lila were to gesture her back, she would have to obey, so even if she sees something, she ignores it.
