[WoT Adventure] Turn 3

Sirsei sighs, "It isn't as bad as that, Shalimar. Thank the Light, we aren't Novices anymore. At least we have some freedoms now. I think Lila will teach us when she's ready. You have to admit that the trollocs last night were certainly a change of pace. And if she'd been here, I daresay we'd have learned something then."

She shrugs, "I don't want to bother her, yet. But I will get something out of this trip. If I have to pester her, I will."

She pulls out a green dress, "I like this. Maybe I'll wear it tonight. Honestly, I don't think the Brown Ajah is going to do me justice. Green is my color."

Her eyes pop open at the crack about the Brown Ajah.

"If you do choose Green you will have to fight potential warders off with a stick the way you flirt." she mutters darkly still upset about Tomas and Lila

Its not fair, why should every man like her? I will find someone to be my warder, I will. If she doesn't steal them all. Its just not fair, no woman should be as gracefull and beautiful as she is she makes me look like a trolloc. Shalimar thought not for the first time envying her friend.

"But if you pick Green Sirsei dear, who will that leave for the rest of us?" She says loud enough for Sirsei to hear this time.

Sirsei pauses for a moment, "Anyone you want, I imagine. There are certainly more men out there than Aes Sedai. Even if every Sister chose the Green Ajah, and they all bonded the five most attractive men they could find, there'd still be more out there than I'd care to count."

She turns back to her bag, "Anyway, I wouldn't be picking Warders based on which ones drool over me and which are the best looking. There are much more important things. It's like love, I suppose. My mother always told me that the right man wouldn't want anyone else but me."

She frowns, "Her eyes always got wet whenever she said it, like she was almost ready to cry."

Sirsei shakes her head, "But it hardly matters. There are a lot of beautiful women in the tower. And then there are some real trollocs in the lot too. Have you ever met Delona Sedai? She may be the ugliest woman I've ever seen. It's no wonder she's a White Sister. If she ever left the Tower, she might be stoned."

She giggles a little.

Once again Ashrem found himself staring out the dust stained window of his room. He grimaced as he watched the crowds milling about below. So many people.....any one of them could be dangerous. A bloody darkfriend even. He looked to the west. Still light left, too early to head back to the alley. I could at least get some exercise..

With that, he took off his coat and black silk shirt and pulled his hair back into a ponytail. Looking through his belongings, he found a thin white shirt and took a minute to lace it up. Cotton was much better for sweating.

He grabbed his sword on the way out and bounded down the steps. He gave the common room a once over and headed out to the yard to look for Yuri. Maybe I can learn something from all this...

Making his way through the kitchen, he lifted an apple from a nearby basket and bit into it with a satisfying crunch. Sword in one hand, apple in the other, he opened the back door and headed out.

For a time he watched quietly, hoping to learn a bit as a spectator. He soon finished his snack and called out to the borderlander. "Master Yuri, I’ve a favor to ask of you. Would you mind practicing with me?" He looked around for some sticks or something that would do as practice swords. "Not many duels to be fought in Andor. I fear I may be becoming rusty,” he said with a sly grin. "It's not everyday I have the opportunity to spar with a borderlander, maybe I can pick up a thing or two."

"Shalimar, I need to speak to Sirsei alone." Lila says. I always hated it when a sister would call me to account in front of the others. I will not do that to anyone else, if I have a choice.

Sirsei stops rifling through her bag of clothing when Lila mentions that she needs to speak with her alone. Well, I think I know what the conversation with that pig was about. She sighs, suspecting what is probably coming.

A little ball of icy dread starts to build in her stomach, but she quashes it ruthlessly, I'm not going to be afraid of the consequences. I knew what I was getting myself into. And Lila is at least showing me the courtesy of privacy. But, I swear, if I ever get Tomas alone in a dark alley somewhere...

She smoothes her dress, wiping away wrinkles that don't exist and brushing off a few miniscule specks of dirt that only she can see. I hope this goes quickly. And of course, I'll get this lesson twice, since Sheriam will hear about it as well. Flaying is not good enough for that swine.

She clears her throat and waits for Shalimar to leave.

"I thought I was the one in trouble." she whispered to Sirsei on her way out of the room, her eyes very wide.
"I will be in Jain's room when you need me Lila Sedai." She makes a quick curtsey, and leaves the room.

I wonder what she is going to say to Sirsei? I was the one that made a scene. Maybe I should listen? No, I think that would make things worse when she finds out. And I did promise to speak to Jain.

Shalimar will stop in front of Jain's door and knock once sharply before entering without waiting for so much as a come in.

"Jain, I... you said you wanted to talk."

Jain Hadlin, shocked!

One, Two, Three...........One, two, three...........one,two Urrg!

When Shalimar opens the door Jain stops in mid swing. His jaw drops and look of absolute shock comes to his face.

He is dripping with sweat, and only wearing his pants.

"Uhhhh, gghhh, durrr! SHALIMAR?"

He drops his sword and rushes over to his bed and snatches up a shirt, quickly pulling it over his head.

In the time it takes to do this, you get a good look at his upper body. It's covered in the type of scars that only come from the worst of burns. Many are faded and nearly gone, but for any to remain after healing with the power, they must have been severe in deed.

"Uh, i'm sorry, i didn't hear you knock. I get pretty focused during my practices."

Jain scoops up his, rapier, and puts it away.

"Please, make yourself at home."
