At the Wizards of the Coast offices in Seattle, a certain Demon Lord has arrived... in a cardboard box. "Zuggtmoy is in the house! She came all the way from France where she was lovingly hand-sculpted by artist extraordinaire, VIRGINIE ROPARS - OFFICIAL to be our cover model for Dragon+. Zuggymoy was eagerly unboxed by her adoring attendants, helmed by D&D's wonderfully talented Creative Director (and instigator for this sculpture), Shauna Narciso." So Zuggtmoy is French, eh?
Only on EN5ider! The second in our "Over the Next Hill" series of small plug-in settlements is a lakeside fishing town on the fringes of civilization - an ideal base camp from which to launch expeditions into the wilderness! With NPCs, locations, and plot hooks, these settlements can be used in any campaign. By Scott Marcley; illustrated by Indi Martin.
Simon Rogers of Pelgrane Press talks about the tabletop roleplyaing game industry again. Simon previously wrote an article on the economics of RPG book production for EN World; this time around he's addressing eBooks (for the purposes of this article ebook includes the dominant PDF format, together with epub, mobi or similar formats for displaying RPG content.) "[When] I’ve finished speculating who actually would win, atoms or electrons (it’s electrons), I’ll explore the history of the ebook in roleplaying, then then in the next part, move on to some tasty data served with a side dish of speculation."
The website Critical Hits has a preview page from the upcoming Out of the Abyss adventure for D&D 5th Edition. The adventure has September 15th release date (11 days earlier for preferred stores) and was produced by Green Ronin for WotC. The preview shows some details about underdark outposts, along with a few areas.
PAX Prime is coming. It's a gaming convention in Seattle, and the one that WotC currently uses for panels or announcements rather than Gen Con (which is used for gaming). The convention takes place August 28-31. Here's what you can expect to see from Wizards of the Coast (who will also have a booth in the Exhibitors Hall from Friday through Monday).
WotC's Chris Perkins on the Alice in Wonderland themes of D&D 5th Edition's Rage of Demon's Out of the Abyss by Green Ronin Publishing.
Only for TRAILseeker patrons. The Order of the Wolf, and the Circle of the Whistling Oak are two brand new druidic circles for your Pathfinder game. Complete with alternate class abilities and six new druidic spells, these player options focus on animals and on woodland battle, respectively. By Daniel Marshall; illustrated by Xanditz.
Quests of Doom 2 is coming soon from Necromancer Games. Unlike QoD1, this one won't be a Kickstarter - instead, they're simply taking direct pre-orders. This book contains six adventures, all for 6th level or below. (thanks to Jeremy for the scoop) "From the weird and terrifying interior of the Spire of Iron and Crystal (cover) to the heat-misted Jungle Ruins of Madaro-Shanti, this sequel to the two-volume Quests of Doom offers a whole new set of adventures for Fifth Edition. These adventures are all for characters level six and below, so the book isn't going to sit on the shelf and gather dust. Are your players up to the challenge of old-school First Edition style play? Make them earn those experience points."
Paizo's Erik Mona takes a look at three miniatures from the upcoming (November) Rusty Dragon Inn package. This week, that includes the Kobold Devilspeaker, the Cutpurse, and the Riding Horse. Personally, I think the horse is more likely to be let into the in than the dual-wielding cutpurse!

It's All About Illithids

This short video from the upcoming Sword Coast Legends video game demonstrates an illithid wiggling when hit by energy blasts. "Coming to Sword Coast Legends: Mind flayers, also called illithids, are the scourge of sentient creatures across countless worlds. Four tentacles snake from their octopus-like heads, flexing in hungry anticipation when thinking creatures come near." Sword Coast Legends is currently slated for release on PC on September 29th, with console releases later in the year.
Courtesy of WotC is this preview from the upcoming adventure, Out of the Abyss. This preview features Zuggtmoy, the Lady of Rot, and the Demon Queen of Fungi. Out of the Abyss is only a month away now (or even earlier for preferred stores which get an 11-day head start). "Zuggtmoy, Demoness Lady of Fungi, dread and fell ruler of the 222nd ghastly plane of the Abyss, made her first full appearance in T1-4 The Temple of Elemental Evil. In her natural form, she appeared as a puffball mushroom with a toadstool growing on top. Four elephantine legs with suckers on the bottoms supported her spherical body. Truly disgusting to smell, and just as revolting to behold, Zuggtmoy is capable of summoning legions of hostile fungi to do her bidding, and may control all manner of plant life within her sphere of influence."
Out of the Abyss is nearly here. Demons will rage, most likely. One thing that all the 5E books share in common is a humorous disclaimer in the front of each. Wondering what the one in Out of the Abyss says? Look no further! It's down below this image of Demogorgon tearing Menzoberranzan apart!
The latest issue of the DRAGON+ mobile app has arrived. You can download it on your mobile device of choice. And this one has an adventure in it! "The latest issue of Dragon+ is your guide to the Underdark, where demons are running amok. Learn the story of Rage of Demons from the creative staff at Wizards of the Coast. Discover how the tabletop roleplaying game, Sword Coast Legends, the Neverwinter MMORPG, novels, and more are coming together to tell one epic story. You'll get the inside scoop on Sword Coast Legends from design director Tim Schwalk and delve into the latest D&D novel, Archmage, featuring R.A. Salvatore's beloved cast of characters. Finally, catch up with what's happening in the Adventurers League community and get access to a FREE PDF adventure, Harried in Hillsfar, featuring the Rage of Demons storyline."
