D&D (2024) Ranger 2024 is a bigger joke than Ranger 2014:

Are you going to add a lock picking mini game for the rogue too?
Lock picking as a skill is already actionable. There already IS a system to engage with and the purpose of the rogue isn't to just pick locks. it's to be sneaky and thiefy in general.

Even if the rogue sucks as a class the class still has mechanics to engage with the core concept of the class. You can still lock pick or do whatever thief things you want.

The ranger doesn't really have that, because there is no system for wilderness travel and survival.

Make skill check to see if you succeed.

Not sure I see the difference.

What skill check? What does a success mean? What does a failure mean? Can you get lost in the wilds? How much food do you get when you hunt? How difficult would these checks be?
survival / slight of hand
Getting though the forest / door
Not getting though the forest / door
Can you get stuck behind a door?
How much gold is in the locked chest?
How difficult is it to pick a lock?

If your advocating a survival / food DC table in the DMG, right next to the lock picking DC table. Then sure. Don't see why not.
