Airwalkrr's 4e Game IC: Ch 1 Sedition

Petron's swing was masterful, and as he directed it coolly towards the tiefling, he was almost certain it would connect, but the tiefling was a more wily foe than he imagined. It wasn't merely a narrow miss, the tiefling timed his dodge perfectly, then parried the blow with an incredible stroke. "My turn" he grinned as he returned the favor and lashed out at Petron, taking the opportunity to strike after Petron's weapon was deflected by the parry. Fortunately for Petron, the tiefling's poor luck continued. As he stepped in to cut with his sword, he banged his elbow on the wall of the doorway, which was just enough to make any chance of him landing a solid strike nil. (natural 1 again)
GM: A 19 does actually miss. They are level 5 and they are soldiers. Their AC is pretty high.
Begin Player Phase 8. No change in map.

"Plumbum Metamorphosis!"
"Ha!" the tiefling cries as he shrugs off the effect of Erik's spell. "Your magics are no match for my iron fortitude. You make have taken down my comrade with a lucky blow, but I will avenge her and make a name for myself by carving your flesh into a form more pleasing... blood and guts will suffice."

"Your god is weak, fool," the tiefling taunts as he deftly maneuvers away from the cleric's mace.

The tiefling is proving an implacable foe, but as the battle drags on, it appears that luck may be the true deciding factor of this battle. The tiefling is an incredibly skilled combatant, and has the tenacity to continue fighting against worsening odds.
GM: Petron and Lia are up.

OOC: Level + 4 enemies are very hard to hit. That's why I had Lia -- and Petron when I've run him -- pull out all the stops to get one of them out of the picture so we could focus on the other one.

Quietly satisfied that her efforts (and the others) brought down one of the tieflings, Lia turns her bow to the other one and fires two more shots, opening the range more before doing so. One shot makes it through his defenses, while the other just barely avoids damaging him.[sblock=actions]minor:declare fury2 her quary
move: move to R9
standard: twin strike vs fury 2

attack 1 HITs for 10 dmg + 4 HQ = 14 damage total; attack 2 MISSes[/sblock]

Trying to make the Tiefling shut his mouth,Petron makes another attack with his battleaxe, but the creature dodges the blow again. The Tiefling is quick, and Petron thinks that this battle will take a little more time to finish than he expected...

While the tiefling avoids the first arrow, the second slices through a patch of leather covering his arm. The wound is minor, but slowly he is approaching a dangerous threshold of damage.

Seeing Krawlinstar step to his side, he clearly anticipates a coming flank maneuver, and thus positions himself to use the battlefield to his advantage. After taking a vicious but unsuccessful swing at Petron (AC 14), he backs into the corner and cries, "I'll not be outflanked easily. Come and get me if you dare!"

You have dodge one more time, but running like a scared rat will not save you from the same fate your stupid companion had. - Krawlinstar cries after the Tiefling avoids one more attack from him.

The tiefling's retreat into a corner made a shot from her current location difficult, but moving to somewhere with a better angle was hardly difficult. So she did, and the fired another pair of shots.[sblock=actions]move: move to K8 (an elf in light armor can move 7 squares)
standard: Twin Strike vs tiefling 2[/sblock]Again, one arrow hit the man, though it wasn't quite as clean as the previous shot that made it through his defenses.

Krawlinstar's swing is wide, and the tiefling easily dodges it with a chuckle. However Lia manages to sink an arrow into his upper shoulder, and blood begins to pour from the wound. The attack only seems to invigorate him. He is clearly determined to fight to the death.
GM: Continue player phase 9.
The tiefling is now bloodied.
Petron damaged 1 and marked by fury2 until end of player phase 10.
