The Untamed Wilds: Caravan Campaign

Saemund will wait and see whether or not the sentries see and engage Tor. If they do Saemund will assist Tor. If they run past Tor, Saemund will continue with his original plan to ambush the Evipau about to run past him. If the Evipau notices him before the he can attack, Saemund will plant the carving axe in the nearest tree and engage with his large axe.

OOC: I take it that the orange squares are the fire

San-Bolo intend to move up to their right to keep the fire between them and the archer and axeman hoping the obstacle will give them a little more time to kill the benders.

Sannit intends to step up and engage the closest witch in melee with his spear or axe if he's not carrying the spear.

Bolo intends to heat one of her flint tip arrows and fire it at one of the witches Sannit is not engaging.

Turtle intends to give a big roar hoping to disorient and demoralize his opponents. (I mean, what kinda hard ass mofo's run around with a bear.) After that he will move up to San-Bolo's left to protect their flank and engage any targets that draw near.

Day 45: Combat at the Tree, Day 10, Part 2

...Saemund will continue with his original plan to ambush the Evipau about to run past him...
OOC: Tor and Saemund do not appear on the spacing map above as they are too far away, at the moment.

Both sentries were between Tor and Saemund when the witch yelled. Tor being the farther from the village and Saemund being the closer. The archer reacts faster, but the man was already a step ahead. He ceases to focus on the immediate surroundings as he begins to run. As his stride lands beside the crouched position of Saemund, the latter rises to the complete surprise of the Evipau. Saemund plants his carving axe into the curve of the man's neck, breaking the collar bone, using the fighting axe in his left hand like a shield to block any potential blow, a blow that does not come.

The archer, seeing the death of her partner, stops, attempting to draw and fire at the point black range. Saemund reacts to try to move himself back behind the tree for cover, realizing that he will be too slow. Tor, who already had an arrow knocked to launch it toward the village foes, plants it squarely in the back of the woman before she can fire, burying it to the fletching. The woman's arrow goes wild into the sky, as Saemund smiles at his friend.

Tor and Saemund then hurry toward the small fire and the call of the witch.

Day 45: Combat at the Tree, Day 10, Part 3

OOC: The orange square is the fire. The brown is the main tree.

San-Bolo intend to move up to their right to keep the fire between them and the archer and axeman hoping the obstacle will give them a little more time to kill the benders...
As San-Bolo begin to move to their right, Turtle begins to stand, the archer reaches for an arrow, Sheldon moves his hands, Indigo begins to run forward, and the axeman reaches for his axes.

OOC: When 1 second of time has passed...

A lightning bolt erupts first, streaking from Sheldon to the witch nearest him. Indigo closes 1 pace toward her.

Time = 1 minute / 20 = 3 seconds
Shock = 62 + 74 = 136
Resist = 30 + 100 + 51 = 181: resisted[/sblock]
GM: The witch is stunned for 3 seconds from the flash but was lucky enough to resist the shock.

OOC: Half a second later...

The axeman begins to leap the fire toward Sannit as he closes and thrusts his spear at the witch. Bolo heats and draws her arrow. Turtle stands and roars.
GM: Attack w/ Pole Weapon:

Armor = 19: tunic
Damage = 158 - 79 = 79% * 20 = 16 - 10(soak) = 6
Body = 10 - 6 = 4: hurt[/sblock]
GM: Sannit stabs his spear into the witch's abdomen, but her Hoghide Tunic saves her life. The archer, seeing a bolt of lightning and a standing bear roaring at her becomes completely unnerved. She turns and runs. The axeman is already in motion and cannot change his action. The witch falls back from the spear and flicks her hand at Sannit. A darkness seems to envelop the hand.

Day 45: Combat at the Tree, Day 10, Part 4

spacingHT2.jpg
OOC: also as the second and half pass...

Tor and Saemund continue to draw closer to the main group, as do the other 2 pair of sentries.

The witch at the base of the tree that had turned toward Merin is slower to react than he is. Merin moves his hand toward her as if striking. A force of mere air connects with her causing a distinct boom sound. Simultaneously, he send Myth up into the tree to attack from above.
GM: Force Punch:
Affect / Range = Confluence + Will
Effectiveness = Essence + Mind + Confluence + Knowledge + Will + Collegiate + Aberrative

[sblock=Merin]Force = 64 + 72 = 136
Resist = 24 + 74 = 98
Damage = 136 - 98 = 38% * 16 = 6
Mind = 10 - 6 = 4[/sblock]
GM: The witch is, however, able to withstand the blow and retaliate.
Ravish:
Affect / Range = Adhesion + Will
Effectiveness = Essence + Mind + Adhesion + Knowledge + Will + Wisdom + Collegiate + Aberrative + Machination

[sblock=Witch]Ravish = 73 + 75 = 148
Resist = 38 + 70 = 108
Health = 5 - (148 - 108 = 40% * 16 = 6) = -1
Ravish = 73 + 80 = 153
Resist = 38 + 65 = 103
Confluence = 7 - (153 - 103 = 50% * 16 = 8) = -1[/sblock]
GM: Merin becomes unable to move and finds himself craving to consume the flesh of other people, his mind still understanding that this is not right and that the witch has affected him.

Day 45: Combat at the Tree, Day 10, Part 5

OOC: as 2 seconds pass...

Since the witch Sheldon electrocuted is momentarily stunned from the flash, he decides to leave her to the charging Indigo as he switches targets. Sensing the power released by the one remaining at the base of the tree he switches to her, generating a second bolt of lightning.
[sblock=Sheldon]Flash = 62 + 88 = 150
Resist = 18 + 53 = 71
Mind = 4 - (150 - 71 = 79% * 14 = 11) = -7: stunned
Shock = 62 + 73 = 135
Time = 1 minute(8 / 20) = 24 seconds
Resist = 30 + 76 = 106
Body = 10 - (135 - 106 = 29% * 14 = 4) = 6: hurt[/sblock]
GM: This witch is somewhat damaged by the shock but, having her mind already weakened by Merin's effort, is significantly stunned from the flash.

At the same instant Bolo releases her heated arrow at the newly healed witch.
GM: Attack Projectile:
Body + Mind + Motility + Knowledge + Wisdom + Combat + Commercial + Projectile + Enhanced Projectile
Enhanced Projectile:
Essence + Mind + Cohesion + Will + Collegiate + Academic
Generate Heat:
Effectiveness = Essence + Mind + Confluence + Knowledge + Will + Collegiate

[sblock=Bolo]Attack = 125 + 63 + 100(point blank) = 288
Defend = 45 + 63 = 108
Armor = 31: tunic
Damage = 288 - 108 = 180% * 15 = 27 - 10(soak) = 17
Body = 10 - 17 = -7: incapacitated
Mind = 10 - 7 = 3
Heat = 55 + 54 = 109
Resist = 13 + 73 = 86
Damage = 109 - 86 = 23% * 15 = 3
Mind = 3 - 3 = 0: unconscious[/sblock]
GM: The arrow buries deep into the witch's chest, knocking her to the ground, as the heat is expelled within her body rendering her unconscious.

Indigo at this time reaches the first witch to be stunned. The witch, still being unable to function, can do nothing as Indigo slices her throat.

The axeman, who had leaped the fire, comes to the rapid realization, as the witch falls in his periphery, that the Seekers are far beyond approach. He ducks to his right hoping to run and live another day. The far off sentries, seeing two bolt of lightning and hearing the loud growl of a bear, coupled with watching the witches fall, turn and flee.

Tor and Saemund arrive as Indigo also kills the witch at the base of the tree. As she does so, Sheldon says,
"I fear Merin may be badly affected and will desperately need out help."

GM: Within 2 seconds' time, the Seekers have effectively dispatched their enemy. Everyone receives 4 XP for combat.

OOC: Sannit will recover naturally, but could also use help.

Sannit sways on his feet and leans on his spear, elated that another fight has ended with their victory. He takes a quick moment to survey the scene to insure there are no more threats, and pushes the pain to the back of his mind. Too bad these benders were so hostile. They could have taught the group much about way abilities. Silently he marvels that these places they heard of where others feared to go and many did not return were conquered by the Seekers, and wonders at what the future holds for the group.

Bolo rushes to her mate's side to help him before he falls over. She could not identify what the witch did to Sannit, but she knew it was a wound as grievous as any from a weapon. Together San-Bolo limp over to see how they can help Merin.

Turtle stands watch, holding his head up with pride that he saved the group by scaring away those hostile people.

Day 45: The Aftermath, Day 10

Sannit sways on his feet and leans on his spear...
Bolo rushes to her mate's side...Together San-Bolo limp over to see how they can help Merin...
Sheldon rushes up to help support Sannit from the other side while Indigo goes straight to Merin.

GM: Merin can barely move. The pupils of his eyes are completely dilated and there is spittle in the corner of his mouth. Myth paces back and forth, showing that Merin's mind is not yet gone. Despite his physical ailment, he mentally seems to convey for everyone to stay back.

Indigo stands near, but not within arm's reach. She looks at Sannit and asks,
"How do you feel?"
GM: For his part, Sannit indicates that he is extremely fatigued. Indigo looks at Bolo and the two nod as if having passed some unspoken communication.

Indigo again speaks,
"I think both Sannit and Merin have had their health sapped, though something more has obviously been done to Merin. Let us first see if we can invigorate Sannit."
GM: Invigorate:
Range = Confluence + Will +...

[sblock=Invigorate]Time = 10days / (7 + 6 + 332 + 75) = 35 minutes[/sblock]
GM: Sannit will recover 1 point of Health every 35 minutes until it is fully restored.

Day 45: The Aftermath, Day 10, Part 2

Dealing with Merin is decidedly a more serious matter. He is obviously fatigued as Sannit, but there is something more wrong. Indigo and Bolo decide to see if they can, together analyze the situation. Sheldon links in as they begin.
GM: Analyze Ailment:
Range = Cohesion + Persona + Evocation + Psyche + Emulsion + Cognizance
Effectiveness = Essence + Mind + Cohesion + Knowledge + Will + Wisdom + Collegiate + Academic / Theologic
Time for Body = 1 day / (Effectiveness + luck)
Time for Essence = 10 hours / (Effectiveness + luck)
Sheldon = 65
Indigo = 59
Bolo = 64

[sblock=Analyze]Essence = 10 hours / (188 + 91 + 92 = 10 / 371 = 2 minutes
Body = 1 day / (188 + 100 + 72 = 1 / 360 = 4 minutes[/sblock]
GM: With a bit of luck, it only takes a few minutes to determine what is ailing Merin. He has lost both his health and the essence involved in the relationship between the organ systems of the body and the whole.

Indigo expounds,
"Since Merin still has his mental faculties, this explains why he is concerned with our approach. Whatever those witches were able to do, it caused the same urges related to that disease those bats carried. We should treat this first, then his health, so that he loses the urge to consume flesh as his health returns."

Sannit places his hand on Bolo's shoulder as they begin.
GM: Fulfillment:
Range = Confluence + Will
Effectiveness = Essence + Mind + Confluence + Knowledge + Will + Wisdom + Collegiate + Academic / Theologic
Time = 1 day[loss / (target Health + Target Will + Effectiveness + luck)]
Sheldon = 66
Tor = 41
Merin = 53
Indigo = 59
Sannit = 47
Bolo = 64
Saemund = 51

[sblock=Fulfillment]Time = 1 day / (0 + 9 + 381 + 31) = 1 / 412 = 4 minutes[/sblock]
GM: Invigorate:
Range = Confluence + Will
Effectiveness = Essence + Mind + Confluence + Knowledge + Will + Wisdom + Collegiate + Academic / Theologic
Time = 10 days[Loss/(Target Will + Target Confluence + Effectiveness + luck)]

[sblock=Invigorate]Time = 10 days / (9 + 0 + 381 + 54) = 10 / 444 = 32 minutes[/sblock]
GM: Merin's Confluence will return at a rate of 1 per 4 minutes while his health will restore at a rate of 1 per 32 minutes. Merin will need 40 minutes before he feels it to be safe to be around the others. The proximity of Myth and Turtle do not cause any issues. Myth stays by his side, pacing around occasionally to keep watch.

Sannit sits down, his eyes going to the fresh corpses, and says, "I think after this business is done, we follow your plan, Merin, and hunt some beasts. We need a break from this kind of work, although I'm sure we will find even more evidence of its necessity."

Bolo will add Sannit to the link, touching him if she has to, to add his strength to the link to help Merin.

Turtle gives Myth a sympathetic look, and starts walking a perimeter. The best thing he can do is make sure no one sneaks up to get a cheap shot on his people. He does not go near the tree. He will wait for his people to heal before they tackle that.
