In today’s Unearthed Arcana, we explore character options from the Dragonlance setting. This playtest document presents the kender race, the Lunar Magic sorcerer subclass, the Knight of Solamnia and Mage of High Sorcery backgrounds, and a collection of new feats, all for use in Dungeons & Dragons.

Kender have a (surprisingly magical) ability to pull things out of a bag, and a supernatural taunt feature. This magical ability appears to replace the older 'kleptomania' description -- "Unknown to most mortals, a magical phenomenon surrounds a kender. Spurred by their curiosity and love for trinkets, curios, and keepsakes, a kender’s pouches or pockets will be magically filled with these objects. No one knows where these objects come from, not even the kender. This has led many kender to be mislabeled as thieves when they fish these items out of their pockets."

Lunar Magic is a sorcerer subclass which draws power from the moon(s); there are notes for using it in Eberron.

Also included are feats such as Adepts of the Black, White, and Red Robes, and Knights of the Sword, Rose, and Crown.

Ok, so doing some digging, I found information on Druids in Dragonlance Adventures that seems like they changed their minds about Druids on Krynn while still in 1e.

Dragonlance Adventures replaces the Cleric with three subclasses, Priests of Good/Neutrality/Evil, each with their own xp chart. I guess they realized Druids didn't have a place in Krynn's cosmology? I don't know, I wasn't there for that staff meeting.

Was that the hardback? I owned that, it was well ahead of it's time! Is that where I'm getting "druids are banned" from?

That is the hardcover book, yes. And as my cropped section clearly states, Druids are "heathens" and have no powers on Krynn.

Now the interesting part about this is that "heathen" Clerics (who serve Gods from beyond Krynnspace) can, in fact, convert to one of the local Gods.

It doesn't say that Druids can, but I think it's reasonable to assume so, but in this case, they become priests of Neutrality.

It says that druids become heathen clerics and that heathen clerics can convert, so it does in effect say that they can.

Interestingly, Habbakuk, Chislev, and Morgion are Druids, so mull on that a bit. :p

Then there's this head scratcher from the Kender section of the book.

"The sight of the entire village of small kender crying their hearts out was so upsetting to the ranger that he quested until he found a druid who could heal the animal, then retired and took up fishing."

I have a friend who only drinks Coke, and thinks Pepsi is the work of the devil. I honestly don't care if it's Shasta, Wildwood, Faygo, RC, or generic "Cola" myself.
