[Adventure] Rage of the Savage Lands (DM: Dekana, Judge: TwoHeadsBarking)

The wolves don't bother Eithal, but she sleeps with her axe close by.
OOC: Sorry. I thought that was taken care of when you saved for Scarm and Eithal a few rounds ago. In any case, I'm not sure how much more insane Eithal could have gotten (or if anyone whould have known the difference ;))

OOC: Sorry for being out of touch. I'm going to have to disappear from L4W for a while; can you just disappear me? I don't mind if Yishim dies while it happens...

OOC: Ah, sorry to hear that, ronak. But thanks for letting us know. Yishim will be alive if you ever want to play him again.

Damen finds a suitable tree close by with thick branches. From his perch, he can see much of the surrounding forest: the distant mountains to the east, the not-so-distant swamp the party just came from, and the vast ocean to the south. Deep into the night, he even picks out the wolves as they move closer to the party. He's about to warn the party of the danger when he witnesses the canines circle around a pair of elk and ambush them. They seem content with the kill, and they leave the heroes alone. Dawn comes without further incident.

You approach the walls of Cay Harbor in the early afternoon. A guard on the wall - apparently the same one who saw you on the way out - recognizes you and has the gate opened. As soon as you step inside the city, you can see that something's wrong. The temple, so close to city entrance, is cordoned off by armed guards. A small crowd stands in front of the building, looking on with a mixture of curiosity and fear.

I told you we should not have kept the lizard women here! Beatrice snaps and walks up to the nearest onlooker. What is so interesting? What happened that I missed?

OOC: Diplomacy=25

The nearest onlooker is a young boy, hopping up and down from the back of the crowd as he tries to see what's going on. He answers before even turning around to see Beatrice.

"Ain't ya heard? Everyone's saying that the clerics got sick too, just like in the poor quarter. Pa says we'll have to go in the fortress if they get out. So I'm standin' watch!" The boy finally stops hopping and looks at the party. His eyes go wide in shock. "Wow! Are you soldiers? Where'd you get that cool armor?"

Jarel-karn look quickly at his armor. "A reward from the city official of Daunton... almost all my equipment is. I've done a lot over there to stop evil necromancer and save innocent people from dire fate. Tell me, have the guards or any officer have visited this place lately?"

"An adventurer? Oh man, that's even better than a soldier! Hey, I can use a sword pretty good. Do ya'think I can be an adventurer too?"

"Tell me, have the guards or any officer have visited this place lately?"
"Oh yeah, that's right! Commandant Vahl herself found out the priests were sick. She heard that Father Foerster got a lizardfolk to study, so she wanted to have a look, right? But when she got there, she found the clerics were aready crazy! The Commandant's so great... always there when we need her. Imagine what would've happened if the loons got loose before she got there! When I grow up, I wanna be a guard too..."

"Pretty noble of you, kid. But never forget, a guard is someone who need to protect his people against all threat, may the come from the outside, like goblins raiders, or the inside, like thieves. Sometimes, you must even protect your people from themselves, and that's when things get more complicated, because you need to have a better judgement than the average person, and you need to always work for the best of them, never for yourself, don't forget that.

And once you'll have gotten experience, if you still wish, go out adventuring, but don't jump over that experience, and adventurer is just like a guard. He just work for different city or person.

Hey, is Commandant Vahl still in the temple?"
asks Jarel-karn.

The young boy scratches his head as he puzzles over Jarel-karn's words. "Monsters inside the city... I need to keep them away, too."

"Hey, is Commandant Vahl still in the temple?" asks Jarel-karn.
"Um, I haven't seen her. I don't think she's inside, or the guards wouldn't hafta bar the doors like that. She's prob'ly back at the fortress by now." He motions to a stone citadel in the southwestern part of town, overlooking the harbor.

"Sometimes, evil people enter the city. They look good and nice until they summon or smuggle undead, demons or other creature. In Daunton, I had to stop zombies that have been released by a gang leader and necromancer reknown for his immortality... we needed Apoli's grace to put him to his final sleep, and a lot of good people.

If you ever want to go on this dangerous path, I'll give you one advice. Being courageous doesn't mean to be fearless or to rush head down into the danger. You need to control your fears, but keep them, they are there to warn you of the danger. And your mind is your best weapon to confront anything."

Jarel-karn turn to the rest of the group. "Let's see if Commandant Vahl want to receive us."
