Hú Lí, having finally started to move, dances away from her attackers. She first plays a snatch of a simple country tune, as she regains her energy. Then the music turns discordant, settling over one of the zombies, clutching at its life force, and distracting it. The Fungus God: Round 2

Aerys tries to clear the spores from her clothes and skin with little success. One of the fungus-zombies emits a thick cloud, covering Noriaki in more noxious spores. Another does the same near Kane and Aerys and both are enveloped in the cloud. The other creatures close around Kane, but none are able to strike him.

The roiling mass of fungal growth continues to advance slowly. Two more fat puffballs spring up from the ground. Castile is hit by one explosion of spores and Takahaan by another. The latter almost chokes, but Kane, despite being sorely pressed on all sides, wards off the worst of the spores with his magic.

[sblock=actions]Aerys uses Psionic Vigor and gains 8 temp HPs. She fails to save.

Blue zombie uses Pacification Spores on Noriaki and Castile. Misses Castile, hits Noriaki for 17 poison and necrotic damage and he cannot take standard actions until EoNT. Blue zombie shifts to D11, provoking Castile, who misses.

Yellow zombie moves to G6 and uses Pacification Spores on Kane and Aerys. Forgot about its -2 penalty but it still hits both for 17 poison and necrotic damage. Kane and Aerys are unable to take standard actions until EoNT.

Green zombie charges to G5 and attacks Kane, missing.

Yellow shroom attacks Kane (taking 4 damage from White Lotus Riposte). It misses.

Purple shroom moves to I5 and attacks Kane, missing.

Fungus “God” moves 1 square. It fires one seed projectile at Castile and another at Takahaan. Castile takes 17 poison and necrotic damage. Takahaan is crit for 19, which would knock him unconscious. I’ll assume that Kane uses his Channeling Shield here, reducing the damage to 11.

One creeping spore appears in E8 and another in D12. Each has an aura 1 that does 5 necrotic and poison to enemies within it at the start of their turn.

Off-turn stuff
Virtue of Cunning: Castile and Kane are eligible.

Kane uses Channeling Shield in response to the Fungus God’s attack.

Any PC can take a standard, move, or minor action to have an NPC perform an action of the same (or a lesser) type. E.g., if you want Pezock to use Icy Skewer, you spend a standard action. If you want him to move, you spend a move action. An NPC is limited to the usual number of actions each round (but those actions need not all be granted by the same PC). An NPC who has an immediate action can likewise only use it if a PC has an immediate action available to use on his/her behalf.

NPCs can take free actions and opportunity actions normally, without the direction of PCs. They are always considered to have their weapons in hand and don’t need to spend actions unsheathing them.

If all of the PCs act in a given round without giving any actions to a particular NPC, I will have that NPC take one non-offensive action. This will most likely be Second Wind if it is needed and available, and movement or Total Defense if it is not. (It won’t be necessary for PCs to spend their own standard actions to have NPCs use second wind.)[/sblock]

OOC: Any chance of a status summary?

Castile can take the slide to get out of spore zone. Kane's fine.

Kane can't take standard actions but can I give Kane's standard action to his fey beast?


Kane smiles as his mind reconnects to his fallen fey companion. He steps away from the seething mass of angry fungi and Jade surges back into being where he stood.

OOC: Status summary is in the handouts section of the Roll20 campaign, under "combat status."

Kane has to take a standard action in order for the beast to take one, so no it can't.

Kane doesn't take aura damage, by the way. The smaller auras are there only to make the creatures distinct from each other. Only the large, square, dark greeen auras have mechanical effects. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

Edit: And I think you have Kane's HP too low. He's taken only 22 damage by my count, and 2 of that came off temp HP.

OOC: Okay, all good. Kane's done in that case.

I'm going to gracefully bow to DM's wisdom with regard to HPs as things are actually pretty critical. I'm thinking that because the OAtk on Kane dragging him closer, that subsequently he was never hit with 'subjugating spores', so never received ongoing dmg. Is that what happened, hence my confusion with HPs? Don't answer that, let's just say it is the case. :D

I found the status area! Yay! If we, and when I say we I mean you, can deal 48 dmg to blue zombie this round it will go down and so will yellow zombie. That might turn the tide.

The noxious spores from the zombies begin to get the better or Noriaki, and he coughs a few times, looking embarassed at the action. He pulls away from the spore cloud and tries to catch some fresher air away from the foe before rejoining the fray.

Castile, wounded and coughing up a storm from all the foul spores, momentarily loses confidence in victory. But at that moment, Castile clearly hears Hu Li's music coming from behind. Guided by the noise, she steps backward and into a small area free from the spores. The dwarf takes a deep breath of clean air and feels much refreshed.

One of the plant zombies is still within axe-range, so Castile cuts her breather short and goes back on the attack. She slams her shield against the zombie, but it deflects the blow and pushes her back to where she started. Unperturbed, she lashes out with axe, this time scoring a hit.

OOC: Sorry for the delay, was out of town for the weekend. Everyone can spend a healing surge for free and gain an addition 4 HP should they spend one.

As the hardy dragonborn almost succumbs to the spore-filled air, he hacks and coughs blood from his throat. His eyes bloodshot and bright sienna, he refuses to give up and locks his eyes onto a target. Letting out a bloodcurdling, bestial roar, the dragonborn takes off toward the relatively unscathed fungal zombie, dipping around it to flank it with Kane's beast.

Locking the pair of fungal zombies between himself, the beast, Kane, and Aerys, Takahaan shouts as he brandishes his weapon toward the foe in front of him, prodding his allies on. "Steel your lungs and press on! These mindless creatures will not imprison us on the Shiv, locked in unrestful death!" He nods to Kane and exchanges a tough look with Noriaki before closing in on the two zombies, trapping them between the group.

Kane steels his resolve at Takahaans words. He will not die today.
