Airwalkrr's 4e Game IC: Ch 1 Sedition

OOC: Well, if we've got the time, we ought to take a short rest while either Kwal heals us or we just spend the healing surges. Lia doesn't really want to go anywhere where there's a risk of combat while bloodied.

GM: With Lia's passive Perception, she can pick up the sounds of a city watch whistle being blown outside. If you're going to take a short rest you might want to find a safe/secure place to do so.

GM: In case I'm not being clear here, you have a tough decision to make. Do you take a short rest and risk being discovered by the guards who are clearly on their way and probably not well-disposed to a bunch of people breaking-and-entering and assaulting security personnel? Or do you use your potions of healing (pretty sure you have a couple so far) or other resources to heal up quickly and move on before the guards arrive? You could also duck away and try to come back later, but that might be more difficult the second time. Coming in through the basement isn't likely to work twice, and the place will probably be swarming with the city watch by then. You can take a couple days out-of-game to discuss it before I need a decision. You are close to the climactic end of Chapter 1.

OOC: i'll use Healing word on Lia and me.these are minor actions,so i think it will not take me much time to do this.we recover my rolls and one healing surge.the trap is disabled?if not,let me know and i'll use my Standard Action.if not,i say we should move on before the guards arrive.

Krawlinstar's divine power gives you strength to shrug off wounds that would normally hamper you and you make a determined effort to press on. Lia investigates the jets and finds that they can be disarmed by a hidden panel on the wall. With skillful expertise, she operates the arcane mechanism within to ensure the jets will allow you to pass.
GM: Decide whether you want the jets to delay for one round or be permanently disarmed. Either way, I assume you all scamper into the office.

You earn 50 XP for getting past the trap. That should put you at 875/1,000.
Darok's office is an extravagant affair. In the center of the room is a mahogany desk with gold trim carved to look like serpentine creatures, a kind of drake you imagine. Atop the desk is a mess of papers. Someone left this room in a hurry and clearly snatched a few things along the way. But where this person went is anyone's guess. A quick search (passive Perception) of the desk reveals very little information. You find a lot of company memos, company policies, personnel files (some containing quite detailed notes which you don't have time to go through). However of great interest is a small trap door beneath the desk which, though hidden, you notice with your keen skill. Hidden within is a black bag of silk with a yellow tassel around it, a pair of vials labeled "healing," and some coins. Altogether they number 100 gp. Whoever left this room was in too much of a hurry to take this treasure. Opening the silk bag reveals a marvelous treasure. A silver holy symbol of Pelor gilded in copper filigree and platinum lining. It clearly radiates magic.

Aside from some furniture, there is also a bookcase in the room which contains a number of scrolls, dockets, and ledgers, as well as a few pieces of literature. The literary works might be worth something to the right collector. As for the rest of it, it appears to pertain to the business dealings of the Silver Mantle Company. Finally, you come across something interesting. A large tome has been hollowed out, but the inside is empty. You clearly suspect something of importance was recently stored here, judging by the way the tome appeared hastily placed back on the shelf.
GM: You may use Perception to actively search the room or perform other actions as you see fit. Darok is nowhere to be seen and there are no other occupants in the room that you can see.

OOC: If Lia can see a way to deactivate the jets from inside the room, she'll recommend just delaying them for a round. If not, she'll permanently disable them.
"Let me look around for a bit." Lia says.

Lia notices a similar panel on the inside of the room just to the side of the door. It is less concealed than the one on the outside. She believes she could deactivate the trap using the panel given the time. The panels controls are not incredibly simple, but they are within Lia's skills to disarm from either side fairly reliably.
GM: So I will assume the trap was just delayed.
Looking around the room, Lia doesn't spot anything else of particular interest.
GM: Feel free to re-roll your Perception check, but it takes time. The longer you take looking around, the closer the Watch probably gets. Also, the other players can attempt Perception checks to aid Lia and turn that 19 into potentially a 25 assuming three more successes.

GM: Okay, I am going to hurry this along and roll aid checks for the rest of the party. Krawlinstar failed to aid but Petron and Erik succeeded which made Lia's check result a 23.
With a bit of help Lia notices a secret passageway behind a bookshelf. Judging by the wall it is located upon, it leads into the dry goods and munitions warehouse. A careful search of the bookshelf reveals a false book which appears to operate the secret door.
GM: Make preparations to enter the warehouse. The climactic encounter is about to begin! I'll give you a day or two to post any actions you want to take beforehand, and after that I will assume you enter through the secret passage.

Let me take a look in this symbol of Pelor. it seems that magic is contained inside this item. this must be here for some reason. Pelor has blessed with this!! - Krawlinstar says while he wears the symbol.

OOC: I assume the Healing potions will be split by the party.about the Holy Symbol,i'll take that for me since it is of no use to anyone else.
