Erik

Eric tries to sense hidden meanings in what the woman said. The outspoken information is only rarely the most important.

Calm down my brute friend. i feel that this woman is telling the truth. can you tell me who you said would hurt your family? as long you don't lie to me,you are under the protection of a Cleric of Pelor. - Krawlinstar says,as he tries to calm the woman after Petron's action.

OOC: As always,i only get low results on the dice... :(

GM: I'm going to count Erik's Insight as an aid attempt to Krawlinstar's roll since Insight has already been used successfully. In light of that, you got a success and have completed the skill challenge. 25 XP each; total 825 so far.
The woman has been brought to tears, but she is soothed by Krawlinstar's words and clearly decides that being forthright is the best possible choice for her in this situation. "It was Darok's doing," she says, then adds, "well, Darok and that woman. I don't know who she is, but the two of them coerced me into forging official papers for them that altered the stated contents of a number of shipments. It's supposed to be my job to spot forgeries, not make them! I don't know what they wanted me to do it for. But they had me remove countless items from official invoices and shipment manifests and destroy the originals. I presume the items they wanted me to remove from the documents arrived here, but from that point I can't tell you what happened to them.

"The items they asked me to remove were generally armaments. It's been going on for months now. A little here, a little there. Yes, they paid me extra off the books to do it, but they said if I didn't do it or told anyone about it there would be terrible consequences for me and my family. I needed the extra money. My mother is very old and requires the care of a nurse. My husband lost his leg battling an orcish invasion in the north several years ago and has had trouble finding meaningful work. Please have mercy on me! I know what I did was terrible, but you seem capable and skilled people. Maybe you can make things right?"

I think its time for us to have a conversation with Darok. we can't stay here much longer, probably this place will be swarming with others guards or even the local militia to see what has happened. i say we should find Darok now.

Petron lets loose of the woman, finding her not a witch. "Hm, yeah, maybe we can make things right m'lady, I owe ye that. Ye know the whereabouts of this man and this woman?"

Erik

"Should we take her with us? She is the only proof so far that we are more than invaders who hack down gurds..." Eric asks the others.

[sblock=OOC]

we should take a short rest.

GM: Walking Dad, you've already had time for a short rest. You can recharge your encounter powers.
The woman answers Petron, "Darok should be upstairs, unless he managed to make it out during the fight. As for the woman, she doesn't work here, at least not officially. She usually shows up unannounced and deals directly with Darok."

Thanks for your help lady.i suggest you to go home now.its not safe for you here today.now, everyone, let's head upstairs and find this Darok! - Krawlinstar says as he goes to the stair direction.

As you look around the front portion of the building you see that a couple of the rooms are just offices and storage areas. Not much of interest besides extra chairs, desks, and administrative equipment like pens, quills, ink, paper, some ledgers, sealing wax and the like. But one of the rooms has an office which has been abandoned. There is a desk with a chair for a single person with a bookcase behind it. Whoever left did so in a hurry because there are papers lying on the floor and spilled ink. In the corner of the room is a stairway leading up.

When you reach the top of the stairs you find a long hallway with several doors. Some of the doors hang open. Behind one door you find what is probably a meeting room with a long table and about a half a dozen chairs around it. The room is empty of people, but there is a map on the wall of the region around Manas. There are a number of colored lines on the map which you suppose indicate trade routes. There is also a chalk board with some hastily scribbled notes pertaining to supply quantities and financial math.

Behind a couple other doors you find private offices, but these too have been abandoned. At the end of the hallway is a closed door made of ebony and engraved with the Silver Mantle Company's emblem. There is also a plaque on the top of the door made of engraved brass that reads "Darok Starsinger, Regional Manager."

Krawlinstar aproaches the door that has the company's emblem.he tries to hear any kind of sound coming from behind the door.

OOC: Unbelievable! i just can't get any decent result in the dice anymore!
