BattleStar Galactica:Season 3.5--1/21/07--Arc 11(Mid-Season Cliffhanger Continued)

Does anyone have an idea if time passes during a jump? I've always felt that a jump was nearly instantaneous...is that correct?

And then what is the required downtime between jumps? Obviously they can do it much less than 33 minutes.

Galactica did two jumps in seconds when assaulting New Caprica, but was that unusual?

Galactica alone might be faster than the RTF. And it might have helped that they had a lot of setup time for the jump, so maybe they precalculated the whole thing.

The damaged Cylon Raider in the first season (the one where Tigh's wife was introducded) jumped multiple times in a few seconds, but he didn't get far (always stayed within Dradis range, and even within sight of the accompanying Vipers). So, recharge time might not be a big problem. From 33, it appeared as if calculating the jump destination takes the most time, as they complained that they were "breaking their humps just calculating one jump" (when they discussed an alternative strategy involving splitting the fleet and making multiple jumps)

If I remember correctly from the opening of season 2, in Scattered, when they jumped away from Kobol and had the wrong coordinates so they were separated from the fleet, they revealed that Galactica's nav computers take about 30 minutes to plot a jump normally, but if they network all the computers (i.e. make them vulnerable to Cylon hacking, like most Battlestar computers are) they could do it in 5 minutes. I'd say the two jumps at New Caprica were pre-calculated long in advance, and that even then they knew that was an extremely risky move, but the only way to get the Vipers below the Cylon perimeter. That was definitely not a standard Colonial tactic from the looks of it.

I liked this episode! ... Kara getting slapped was funny moment and I liked how they did away with Lucy Lawless' character for the time being ... I wonder if there are any units out there that are going to run from the other cylons (or even take their own baseship).

and how will the other cylons react or think about themselves if one model gets more say in decisions.

DAMN THEM ALL!!!

For moving the show to Sunday nights.

I work second shift and my nights off are Thursday and Friday.

So I could watch the show, when it was on Friday nights. Now I don't get to see it.

TiVo? Poverty denies me such luxuries.

So, what is going to happen to Baltar?

Will his role in the destruction of the Colonies be revealed?

Will his fears about being a Cylon be confirmed?

Will he be tortured?

Will he shave?

I wonder if there are any more active copies of D'aana Biers in the fleet? They deactivated and "boxed" all the ones in Cylon society, but is it possible for one to be hiding in the fleet? How would the last copy of a Cylon act?

Baltar's inevitable treason trial promises to be very interesting. It's a parallel back to original Galactica when their Baltar was captured and thrown on their prison ship. This Galactica has executions though, old Galactica had banned capitol punishment. Heck, the moment Baltar began to realize what happened on Caprica, as the bombs were falling, he was worried about being executed, much less everything he's done since then (sabotaging his own Cylon detector, shooting Crashdown, giving nuclear arms to Cylon agents, being a Cylon puppet ruler, helping the Cylons find Earth)

At this point, everyone in the rag-tag fleet knows all 7 of the cylon models.

Check the late night listings on SciFi. It looks like they repeat the week's episode on Mondays and Fridays.

Me, I live in Holland where they're all the way up to 3rd episode of the second season. So I download the episodes as they come out with Shareaza until the DVD's come out. Luckily I have a big computer screen.

On this episode, it felt a bit awkward, the conversations forced and everything a bit rushed (and not in the frantic, the planet is gonna blow up way). It just felt like one giant set-up for the rest of the season.

Oh, and Baltar...is...screwed.
