Also, seriously, they're the only colony you hear about discussed as a distinct group. That's kind of annoying.
Well, you hear about the Geminons, that they are fundamentalists who subscribe to a literal reading of the scriptures, consider minor children the property of their parents, and strictly forbid abortion. We do have a Gemenon native in the main cast, Galen Tyrol.

The Sagitarrons were oppressed and manipulated and abused by the other colonies to the point that they had a fairly strong terrorist movement aimed at improving their status lead by Tom Zarek before the fall of the colonies. They also have their own denomination of the Colonial faith that apparently strongly frowns on modern medical care and prefers traditional medicines, and apparently they didn't resist the Cylon occupation on New Caprica on religious grounds.

We've also heard brief mention that the Taurons have a reputation of being a bit of rogues who do things their way and are known for disregarding orders from above. Since Admiral Cain was the most notable Tauron native shown on the show, it does fit.

Aerelon has had a little mention too. Tigh is from Aerelon, and the black & white picture in Roslin's office and the Galactica Ready Room of the firefighter on his knees looking at the devastation of the colonies was a picture of Aerelon, a cut scene from 33 explained it was a picture taken on Aerelon right after the attacks.

In some of his commentary tracks, RDM says that one reason that they focused on Caprica for the planetary stuff was that since they had a fairly limited area to shoot in up in Canada, they didn't want all 12 colonies to look alike (kind of like how a lot of planets in Star Trek look alike), so instead of imply all the colonies looked like Canada, they just showed one and mention others.

You mean like Stargate...were the entire Galaxy, (and even another galaxy if you include Atlantis) looks like Canada.

Zarek does not seem like a Sagitarron...I get no religious faith from him, and he certainly is not a pacifist. BSG as a show has been great because it exists in a gray moral world, and this episode was black and white.

A simple tweak could have made it so much more poignant, so much more interesting....have the plague spread out of control and make the issue of forced medical intervention be debated more seriously.

The handling of the issue of Cylon genocide was well done, and amongst my friends, and my wife generated quite a bit of discussion.
Likewise the issue of abortion and a population under 50K was thought provoking and well handled.

This episode WAS filler, it was empty carbs with no mental nutritional value.

Meh...the show kind of sucks now. I would think that by the third season, we'd see humanity attempt to get their act together. Honestly, I almost want the Cylons to win.

So is Dee. Neither of them seem much like all the other Sagitarrons. But Dee quickly disowned Zarek when he first appeared on the scene and the late Billy said the terrorist fought for the Sags. Dee corrected him and said the man was just a terrorist.

I just want to know what happened or didn't happen with the cylon/human baby. Spoil me, but please allow for the fact I'm not a regular watcher. Had there been a space battle, I would have possibly watched. ;)

This episode? Nothing of import. Athena thought she was sick, Dr. Roberts gave her a shot. The end.

It was really just an excuse to try and make Roberts look like he wasn't all bad, and failed miserably.

The podcast has some interesting insights as to why this was a stand-alone episode when it wasn't necessarily filmed as much.

Apparently according to the original plan, something had happened in Baltar's administration before the Cylon attack, and having to do with Saggitarons. This was apparently supposed tie into the trial later, but apparently when it was discarded, this episode had already been filmed. Apparently a bunch of Zarek stuff got cut out, which makes me sad.

Doesn't make it a better episode, or more connected to the ongoing stories, but interesting none the less.
