I had not read any spoilers, so my first thought when seeing the episode was "Hey, didn't they already do the 'bleak future after Archer fails' thing a few weeks ago?"

Then I was pleasantly surprised when it turned out it was just a ruse.

Same here. I saw it Sunday at my cousin's house. He has satellite, so he gets UPN. I miss them sometimes, because I'm out usually Wednesdays, but in about a month...

Anyway, that's what I told him. I thought, "Oh, God, not again!" Turns out it was a ruse... ha ha ha. To quote a friend of mine, "That's nuts like cashews!"

The crew creates an elaborate ruse to fool the creator of the Xindi superweapon into revealing its location to Archer.

It's a shame Enterprise doesn't crank out good writing like this all the time. The way they Degra seemed a little gimmicky, as well as the reset at the end, but the episode itself was done fairly well.
