Enterprise 02-11-04

The Sim episode was the most obvious foreshadowing of their relationship. T'pol in the "future" episode cared greatly for Archer which shows her affinity for humans not to mention that she is on the current mission which she defied the Vulcan government to participate in. Additionally, the nerve treatments were at the request of the Doctor, she didn't have to do them. That shows just a small hint that she wants to help and she also knew full well that it would put them in inimate circumstances.

Those are the most obvious. The rest is just the acting, which I admit is subjective.

You think it was impulsive, I didn't at all. It has been foreshadowed that T'pol likes Trip and vice versa. You can choose to ignore the obvious foreshadowing and not like it or simply not like it at all for other reason. That is your choice.

Foreshadowing does not imply that characters will act in uncharacteristic fashion. T'pol acted in a fashion which was unlike her. You may not think so. You may also continue to suffer through sub-par writing. It's your decision.

Vulcan's can certainly be impulsive, they are just able to repress it very well. It is a falsity to say that Vulcans have no emotions. They do but they hold them in check. They appear emotionless to most humans.

Oh, then the episdoe where they went on about Vulcan mating was all irrelevent? Also the extent to which T'pol rejected the mores of the emotional Vulcans got tossed out the window as well eh? Three seasons of character were chucked out the window to make for a snazzy commercial. Nice job.

As for T'pol's "excuse," I didn't think she meant it fully. She digs the Tripster and humans in general. This has also been made painfully obvious.

She may 'dig' humans, but that does not mean she acts like a drunk woman at a frat party.

Let's see... top-secret, really important mission to save your species and your senior security officers are pounding the crap out of each other. I would have done exactly what the captain did. Let them know that it won't be tolerated again and to work it out amongst themselves. Ya can't just chuck 'em in the brig...
So, I guess you won't be popping in on any more Enterprise threads? :)

So, you have people deliberately endagering the mission by irresponsible conduct, and you would tell them to 'work it out'? Brilliant.

Edited condescending comment. Please keep the topic on the TV series, and not each other. -Eridanis

Good to see I can't complain in public

See I view this as Archer's poor quality as a Captain. Before Enterprise, he was a test pilot - not exactly leadership material, although he's shown he can fly shuttle pods quite well. I think one of the most interesting potential for this show is to capitalize on Archer's complete inexperience as a starship captain. Let's have a captain that is only "ok" and heavily relies on his crew.

If anything, I think the Xindi storyline has done a reasonable job in showing Archer as an ok captain in a situation that is out of his league. He was fine when it came to exploration, but the military aspect of their new mission doesn't really suit him. His crazy reactions last episode, I think, really supports this.

Also, what else would Archer do? He's preoccupied with other things and he can't very well dismiss them from their posts when he needs them. I'll agree that the scene could have used a bit more spark to it (such as Archer really laying into them) but I attribute that to the acting and direction (not that it was bad, only lacking a bit IMO) and not the story.
