Enterprise 11-12-03

That's what I was talking about Mark. They way they made it sound, they picked up all the humans at one time. It lends you to assume all in the same place, but maybe they went around getting a few here and a few there but I doubt it. And even in the old west a complete town disappearing, horses and all, would definetley be news worthy.

Oh, and of course they weren't trying to kill anyone. We saw Archer change his phaser from stun to cut through wood and back again. But then again knowing that you weren't going to kill anyone I know I sure would have just been blasting anything that moved.

I've only got about a half hour's charge left on this phaser rifle, and the first ten minutes are all about the Vulcan, baby! :p

I never thought they'd picked up everyone from the same place at the same time. I just understood it that they grabbed people from different places. With transporter technology, it shouldn't be hard to do a quick sweep and beam up people that are travelling alone or in small groups.

What bugged me about this episode is Archer getting "ambushed" twice by the same guy. So he walks into a bar, upsets the deputy's "fun time", then doesn't expect him to follow him? A new guy in town? Tripp watched all the cowboy movies, why didn't Archer? :p Ok, so maybe Archer wasn't expecting it the first time. But Archer sure as hell should've known that the deputy would be pissed at having been locked in the jail, and getting punched... seems like his ambush at the gun fight was unexpected? ... whatever...

I usually hate the "Wild West" episodes. This one I enjoyed, though it wouldn't bother me at all if they never did another one.

Archer prefers reruns of water polo. If someone ever tries to ambush him in a pool, he'll be ready... :p

BTW, I kinda got a kick out of the one-armed fight in the barn.

i wish they provided a longer, more detailed explaination of why the settlement was there and why there was the racial discrimination. also, if they came on starships what happened to them? wouldn't at least a little bit of technology be left. why was it set in the 'old west'?

I'm not sure how much more background they can add without tearing away some of the story elements that make the whole thing entertaining. I suppose with limited resources and no outside influences they merely never advanced beyond the type of civilization they left. They certainly had an adversion to the only influence they had, that of the abductors.

The fact that over two centuries had gone by also explains why they didn't have much more than stories handed down for generations. I mean, how much detail can you tell me about the lives of your ancestors at the time of the Revolutionary War?

good point(s).

What i would really like to know is why the humans overthrew the skagorians and how everything worked back when they first created the outpost and just more about why it was there and how they got the humans.

Well, the humans were used as slave labour, and as typical humans, they revolted against the Skagarians.

Another thing I noticed is that this episode kinda reminds me of "The 37s."

I passed my VCR progamming skill check with flying colors and finally got to watch this episode.

I was very skeptical at first, but it turned out okay.

I like the end where the teacher was getting ready to use some enterprise tech as a visual aid in her class.

... next week, ugh. so is trip's character gone? ... if not, I'm gonna start getting real bored of watch "insert main character here" die, and then somehow come back to life. (or for a variation, character X has something happen ... the time line is then screwed, to fix it we have to 'blah blah blah' ... all is well again.)
