Enterprise 11-19-03 *SPOILERS!*

I thought it was a very good episode, better than most this season. However, I thought though that Archer's character wasn't developed enough this episode. At least not at the beginning.
At the beginning, he wasn't really thinking, or agonizing over his choice to make the clone of Trip, although at the end, he was portrayed more comprehensively.
I liked how they managed to make an interesting (good) filler episode, without just all action, something they have failed to do this season

I will definitely say the writing is leaps and bounds over that of Voyager this season, even for filler episodes.

Hmm, my impression is they're using Voyager-type scripts, just the acting is generally better. That's a common pattern for the franchise - TNG had a lot of early scripts "recycled" from the Star Trek TV series that was planned for the 70s but never got to TV, and Voyager and DS9 both borrowed early on from a pool of script ideas submitted for TNG but never filmed.

I thought this week's episode was a real dud - for all the talk about attracting a new fan base, this show follows the tired old Star Trek formula of setting up some contrived problem and then resolving it without any lasting effects. The show seems to be in a really awful rut of filler episodes, and that's not good at all in a season that's supposed to have an overall plotline.

I set it to record last night as I have the flu and wanted something to watch today but the friggin bachelor was on instead!!! Arrrghghh&(&$@)! Back to daytime TV. :(

Well, since we have no idea at this point if there are any lasting effects, that might not be a fair assessment. So far this season they have been pretty good about hqving effects lap over from one episode to the next. I am thinking the aftereffects here will revolve around the mental states of Archer and Tripp, and even the possibility of Tripp having some memories now from Sim.

We shall see how it plays out, but frankly I quite enjoyed this episode.

that was my fear for this episode ... although I might be a little gun-shy after seeing scads of previews for voyager though ...

" it eats small children! what is it?! ... can Tuvak save them?" (close enough) ... nope, they just grow old back-asswards ...

Meh. I haven't been too impressed with Star Trek lately. Its been going down hill since DS9. That show got everything right. Right cast, right conflict, right bad guy (freaking cardasians), right resolution. And they did a much better job linking the episodes.

Personally, I think Star Trek being on a spacestation was the best idea they ever had.

Well, at least it's not one of those un-based in real life sci-fi ideas where somehow the clone reaches maturity almost instantly (wait, that isn't sci-fi ones).

I just think that Archer should've debated the idea a little more before.

First thoughts:

It's an issue epidose, and one that deals wih morality and ethics. It's also an issue that has current relevance (unlike say last season's episode "Stigma" which was several years dated). It's good to see Star Trek return to its roots like this, not only with this episode, but several of this season's episode. I didn't think it was the most exciting episode of all time, but I don't feel like it was an hour of my life wasted either.
