Enterprise 11-26-03 *SPOILERS!*

Ok, allow me to add an asterisk to my filler comment. To me, not that much happened compared to an episode of, say, Farscape where things go a mile-a-minute. I did say that it will have future impact but I guess I just wanted more, ya know? It's not a knock on the show, just a comparison. :)

On another personal note - I have been missing the occassional episode this season which is unfortunate, however it is not that bad because of the format. Unlike DS9 or Farscape, I can miss an ep here and there and not be totally lost. :) Plus, I can look forward to a few reruns this time around since I missed a few.

[Janeway]I'm not so sure...[/Janeway] :D

DS9 might well have more in common with ENT than with Farscape. I can't recall ever feeling lost if I missed an Ep of DS9. ENT and DS9 both are/were virtually guaranteed a full run as a series, unlike Farscape which had to pack their episodes and push their arcs quickly lest the show drop off in ratings and lose the chance to bring some semblance of closure. As with all Trek, DS9 had more than its fair share of small arcs, sub-plots and "filler" episodes with little or no consequence in the "Journey of the Emissary" or need I make my point by mailing you a tribble as an invitation to a game of darts in the lounge or baseball on the holodeck? :p

There are points for both arguements. ENT is just starting to really get a head of steam into the season long story while DS9 had it for it's last 3 seasons. There were a few off-shoot episodes here and there, but the majority of the eps were concentrated on the main story. Farscape has its side episodes as well. It had a good number of shows where it didn't progress the overall plot of that season, just like Trek. It just did it at a much quicker pace. But that was the style of the show: mile-a-minute. It had nothing to do with fear of cancellation (they had no idea Sci-Fi wasn't going to honor their agreement for a 5th season until the last day of shooting for season 4) and everything to do with the style of the show. It never felt crammed in to me.

DS9 also had a better flow to it than ENT currently does. You may dissagree but you have to take it in the context of the show's entire run. DS9 had huge growing pains (as ENT does now) for it's first 3 seasons. It really took off in season 4. I've been one of the largest fans around here of ENT so far (as you know). But I'm not going to say that any of it, to date, has been better than or even equal to the brilliance of DS9. But, it's apples and oranges right now as ENT hasn't even hit the halfway point of their possible 7 season run.

I'm not putting down ENT, I'm just calling it as I see it. I thought the same thing about DS9 about this time of its run when comparing it to TNG (which was still in stride at that point). I do have to say that I have liked a good amount of the ENT episodes so far and the meta-arc involving time is better than the Prophets meta-plot which I never (even to the end) was in love with.

I'm not saying you are wrong in your assessment of ENT based on DS9 correlations, just premature in your statements.

As to Farscape's chances of being cancelled at any point in its run, contracts often have clauses regarding ratings levels to give a network an out. I have a feeling those are less likely to be in the ENT paperwork, than to have been in that of Farscape. Then again, I'm speaking prematurely in regard to ENT.

I'd actually rather not speak of it at all in fear of the dreaded jinx. ENT is really the last sci-fi show that I actually watch and I need it to stick around! :)

I hope I haven't jumped that Targ... :p

LOL

Too true. Actually, the last I heard ENT was up a bit in the ratings which is good. :)

Oops, now I've gone and done it...

We can time travel around those consequences. In fact, I just did... :p
