Enterprise 12-03-04

well, if Enterprise is going down this season, at least it's going out with a bang. Hmm.. a movie would be neat. I wonder though, just how is Earth going to have a war with the Romulans. Isn't the Enterprise the one and only advanced ship in the fleet?

They've launched a 2nd NX-class ship. It was mentionned in the 3rd episode of this season (IIRC; it's the episode where Archer goes climbing with his friend, who's been chosen as the captain of the 2nd NX ship).

Not bad, I have to say.

I was glad that they explained why the Head Vulcan Dude was so gangbusters into the whole conspiracy. And yes, there was a Romulan connection and I'm pleased that it was handled in a way that is consistant with the show's future. The way that is was presented worked for me.

Jeffery Combs rocks.

More things I want to see: Continuing tension between the crewmembers, especially Malcom and Trip. More space battles. More of the good stuff from this season...

Y'know at first I thought I would always associate the character of Weyoun with Combs. But now, as I watched a rerun of DS9, I couldn't help but think "Shran" whenever Weyoun appeared on screen.

I wholeheartedly agree with the cremember tension. I thought the exchange between Malcolm and Trip to be well played. I have to admit, I care little about Archer, and really liked Trip in the center chair. His reactions just seemed so much more natural than Archers do. Personal preference I guess.

I wonder if there are any actors who have played more recurring roles on various Star Trek shows than Jeffrey Combs: Liquidator Brunt, Vorta Weyoun, and Commander Shren (that's in addition to Tiron and Det. Mulcahey on DS9 - I think Det. Mulcahey was in one of Sisko's 30s flashbacks, Penk on Voyager, and Krem on Enterprise).

didn't the woman (can't recall her name) who played Worf's half klingon girlfriend in TNG play an Andorran in Ent. a couple seasons ago?

Good point about Trip on the bridge. I think some of the allure (at least for me) is that you don't know what he is going to do all the time. He could go guns blazing or demand a truce. He's got that Kirk thing going on. He also just seems a little uneasy in the big chair which brings a little more excitement and tension to the screen.

That's what I like about Trip too. He kind of shoots from the hip — look how he decides on the cuff to go warn the Andorians — but he also worries about whether or not he made the right decision. Even then, he sticks with his choices, and doesn't waffle in front of the crew. As a command figure he seems to be somewhere between Kirk and Sisko.

I thought the interaction with him and Soval in these episodes were pretty good too. Before on Enterprise, we got mostly Archer and Soval's mutual dislike for each other. In this storyline though, we see Soval and Trip work together effectively.
