Heroes: The Powers

I am not as sure about that. Claire had been videotaping herself months before that, Nathan had been flying for a long time, plus all the companty people and the Linderman-Petrelli group. There had to be lots of eclipses (and there are worldwide but they are rare for any given location) plus they made the powers out to be genetic so I don't see how an eclipse can trigger thier activation.

There was an episode from first season (called 6 months ago -- or something like that). In that, there was an eclipse and that night was the first time nathan flew (avoiding the car accident that crippled his wife) and claire's power first manifested too, etc

if lunar cycles can have effects on the body's natural processes, they may be stretching that to eclipses having the effect to 'awaken' some latent ability or such.

I'm not saying it's the end-all-be-all, but there is definatly some sort of correlation (also add in the meta-reason that an eclipse is a symbol for the series itself and therefore probably has some connection)

I don't think its a stretch that a powered individual's abilities would become active after a solar or lunar eclipse. However, I think the eclipse is only part of the trigger, and their might be a physical or psychological component to it occurring. If I think most might become activated if the individual experiences a state if arousal (in a psychological sense) within a few hours of the eclipse, while others need to physically be harmed, in physical danger or be involved in a physical activity.

I thought the eclipse is just an omen.

For example, Claire's power manifested in that prequel story when she and the cheerleader captain got into a scuffle and her hand smashed through some glass.

Peter Petrelli first flew (at night) when he and his wife were being pursued by Linderman's enforcers, which is how the wife ended up a paraplegic.

Tim Kring has said in the past that the eclipse was simply a plot device they used to unite these disparate stories all happening on the same planet - and to indicate that hthey were all happenng at the same time.

No matter what they did or who they were - they all looked up and saw this eclipse. It served as a touchstone in the pilot. Then it evolved into being a part of the logo of the series and so a throw-away line in script becomes a symbol of the show. Nothing more to it than that.

I suspect Alejandro's power may be more impressive than merely canceling his sister's power. Right now, I'd be that his power is more like "power negation."

This may prove to be important with the advent of the powers virus.

Just speculating.

For the umpteenth time, it's Kensei.

Kensei! Kensei! Kensei!

They even subtitled it correctly!

Not that stoopid PrC name in the Complete Warrior book.

:p
Sorry. The only thing worse than my grammar is my spelling

If he isn't then there have been some before. The company had figured out how to negate powers. That was shown when they kept Sylar a prisoner.

The Company knows more about powers and they work than is being let on.

For Peter and Sylar.... What IF..... Sylar and Peter both have the exact same power BUT Sylar has a "mental crutch" with his. He thinks one must consume the power (the brain) to absorb their powers. Maybe he can just by proxemity like Peter but doesn't know it or understand it.

just one of many thoughts......

Just a random thought- what IF their was another paranormal that had the idea that one had to consume a piece of someone to gain their powers before Sylar?

Jack the Ripper? far fetched but who knows

Dracula? I can almost see that- consumes blood to gain their powers. He has- mind control, animal telepathy, mind control, enhanced strength, regeneration but had the psychic crutch of blood consumption and darkness?

so many thoughts and ideas.....

I doubt they would go in this direction but what if Hiro traveled through time to visit many of the myths of the world to discover if they are paranormal or just stories. I already mentioned Dracula which I could see. Ghangis Khan- mental powers of intimidation and enhanced physical traits.

So many ideas.....
