D&D 5E (IC) Vault of the Dracolich (Ensemble)

OOC: That was so awesome, I'm having trouble deciding! The good news is, both of you never came close to beating the other's Deception with Insight, so both of you may know the other was up to something but you have no idea what. A very friendly game.

As far as I can tell, what happens in the end is that Udit 'wins' the dice game through extreme cheating. BUT Lorenn plays so much better a real game than he does, and is so nice and charming, that after winning, Udit feels a little bad that he cheated his obvious good friend out of something that is so important to him... and lets Lorenn have it. That's how I read all of that, anyway.

Agreed?

OOC: What happened next? You will find out in the next episode of: Cheaters of the Lost Sword! ( maybe we should go back in IC mode, don't you think? :) )

Zalena reluctantly allows Dunmire to help her over to the map. She looks at it for a bit and points to the room in the middle with the Bhaalite Obelisk that no one has seen (added to the map by Zander, who has seen it). "That room has the scrying pool. Yes, there is probably someone spying on us right now, unless they are too busy fighting amongst themselves."

She then points to the unmapped general "other vaults" area, "None of us have been in this area because we are told to stay out of it, and it's guarded and warded, but that's where his Treasure Vault is, where these Idols were supposed to be kept. Only Silakul, Ourdell, and the Stonefaces have gone in there, as far as I know."

Zander smacks a hand hard to the side of his head. "The pool!" he says as if it were the greatest of revelations.

"Stupid,"
he adds shaking his head. "Stupid to forget such an important thing like that. I blame myself for not wanting anything to do with it, thus I stayed away as much as possible."

"I don't think anyone is probably organized enough yet to be spying on us," he says looking around as if he could spot them if they were. "But we should defiantly take it out so they can't use it."

"Scrying pool? So subterfuge is likely pointless at this point then..."

Mord listens to the rest of the description quietly. Considering their options. "Do you know how to control the destinations of the Obelisks?"

Squirrels are evil!

"There's a book on it in the Library. Most of us have avoided using them. They're not reliable, with their age. You could find yourself buried in the rock or on another plane..."

The original Dispensables all remember the loss of Devan Dawnbringer who disappeared when the group used the Obelisks. They had hoped he was still with the Troglodytes, or elsewhere in the Temple...

OOC: It works for the story that Celestial (Devan's player) disappeared right then!
