D&D 5E Out of the Abyss IC

Raza Thulcandra

Raza scooped up her gear and hurried off after Kago. Eventually she managed to take her place between Kamael and Jimjar. The pace kept her from talking much (breathing was more important) but during a rest break she sipped water a told a halfling story.

"My Gran told me a tale about a race between a tortoise and a hare..."

Later, when Brinn sent word up the line about a stalker, she let Jimjar pass her in line so she could be back near Stool and Brinn.

"What do you think it is, Bonebreaker?"

On hearing about the pursuit, Solace looks for a place to hide. "Are we gaining in distance? If not, perhaps I can get behind it, and we can attack from both sides," she suggests.

Solace spied a cranny between two boulders that looked like it could fit her. Jimjar, not recovered from his dip in the frigid stream, bolted to Kago's side.

OOC: Points of clarification: no foraging while on a fast pace; -5 to passive Perception while on a fast pace; and the party can achieve surprise on a foe only while moving at a slow pace using Stealth. Hiding, however, is still possible. To Brinn's ear, the steps have had a hard time keeping up with the group's fast pace. The group has been very, very slowly gaining distance from whatever it is that pursues them. The steps sound humanoid--two feet, one of which drags.

Kago quickens his pace, but not so fast that the others can't keep up. If he reaches a point where they can stand three abreast, he will take a defensive stance and wait.

The group trekked onward, but the passageway did not widen. After a bit, however, the group encountered a softly glowing patch of the path up ahead. Kago, who was still in the lead, determined that the rock itself must be imbued with some sort of magic because it gave off a phosphorescent blue aura. The glowing rock was thirty feet ahead of his present position, and looked like it continued for another hundred feet beyond its start. Loose bits of shale prior to the phosphorescent area looked like they might provide a hiding spot for Solace, if she were to prove willing to lay prone.

OOC: You're in a narrow passageway, narrower than what the image depicts. (The image is mainly to show the glowing rock.) It's single-file only, and there is natural shale loose on the pathway that someone could hide behind, but they'd have to lay flat.

OOC: Clarify, please. Are you guys stopping prior to the glowy area (which is 30' ahead of Kago), or in the glowy area (which provides dim light)? The rest of the tunnel is pitch black.

" Fine with me, I suspect something so slow is actually not going to be a predator.. Jimjar, want to put a bet on it?"

OOC: Try and position so that Kamael can target the square next to Brinn without too much in the way.. Think I only need line of sight for create bonfire but more than that for chromatic orb..
