The Untamed Wilds: Caravan Campaign

Day 47: The Return Trip, Day 12, Part 2

OOC: GM Note:
I have made some adjustment to identifying items. The following method makes more sense to me in that the items are searched for their particular proclivity rather than mulling over each item one at a time. The time necessary to identify depends on venue rather than intensity. Items that augment the mind are the simplest. Items that augment essence take the most difficult.

What this means for the characters is that if someone is hoping for an item to augment their persona, only an affinity for persona needs to be identified, and items with that proclivity can, simply, be pulled from a pile.

GM: So if a character would like a particular augmentation, it should be stated in a post.

OOC: Village Items:
29 various Feather Talismans
20 various colored Stones
9 various Metal Ingots
57 various Bone Talismans

OOC: Feather Talismans:
9 Duck Feathers
7 Thrush Feathers
4 Calling Bird Feathers
2 Songbird Feathers
2 Stork Feathers
1 Carrion Bird Feathers
1 Wading Bird Feathers
1 Swift Feathers
1 Raptor Feathers
1 Flicker Feathers

GM: Identify Way:
Range = Cohesion + Will +...
Effectiveness = Essence + Mind + Knowledge + Wisdom + Will +...
Collegiate + Theologic / Academic +..
Time = complexity * days / (Effectiveness + Luck)
Sheldon = 57, Indigo = 52, Total = 109

Sheldon and Indigo begin attempting to identify the items by order of simplicity, starting with the easiest which is Persona.

[sblock=Identify Augmentation]Persona = 1 day / (109 + 43) = 9 minutes[/sblock]
GM: In just over 9 minute's time, the following items are separated:
4 Calling Bird Feather Talismans
2 Shiny Yellow Stones
1 Tin Ingot
5 Bird Skulls
4 pairs Bird's Feet

The stones and tin are added to party inventory as they are unneeded items.

OOC:
Merin needs augmentations for Adhesion, Confluence, and Knowledge.
Tor needs augmentations for Adhesion, and Knowledge.
All other abilities for both characters already have augmentations applied.
If an augmentation for an ability is found that is greater than the current augment, it will be swapped out.

Merin and Tor would like to look at the bird skulls, to see if any of them meet their needs.

As the lizard is being skinned, Merin ponders on whether or not any of its bones might prove to be useful for the purposes of augmentation. He suggests that perhaps the skull, the claws, and the tail bone be carefully removed and cleaned, and he asks Sheldon to help, since among the group, Sheldon has proven to be best at butchery and taxidermy.

Merin and Tor readily assist in any searching activities as the group travels, especially for the carbone and pietrazulfo, which is a priority.

Day 47: The Return Trip, Day 12, Part 3

Merin and Tor would like to look at the bird skulls, to see if any of them meet their needs.
Merin and Tor place the bird skulls between them and the yellow stones each of them carries.
GM: Identify Way:
Range = Cohesion + Will +...
Effectiveness = Essence + Mind + Cohesion + Knowledge + Will +...
Collegiate + Aberrative +..
Time = complexity * days / (Effectiveness + Luck)
Tor = 50, Merin = 62, Total = 112

[sblock=Gage Augmentation]Time = 1 day / (112 + 64) = 8.18 minutes[/sblock]
GM: In just over 8 minutes, Merin and Tor are able to realize that 2 of the skulls offer them greater augmentation than the stones they were carrying. It is also determined during the process that the bird skulls may be used to aide in causing Dementia in other people. They then keep the small bird skull talismans and add their yellow stones to the party inventory.

Tellerian Hawke said:

The bones are cleaned in a manner similar to the skin. The tail, being an extension of the spine, is comprised of many small vertebrae. If they prove useful, they can easily be strung into a necklace. The skull, though a nice collection piece, is decidedly to large to be carrying about constantly. Sheldon helps to analyze the bones.
[sblock=Identify Way]Time = 12 days / (112 + 65 + 86) = 1.09 hours[/sblock]
GM: The 3 concentrate as they clean and prepare the animal. It takes just over an hour to determine that the skull, claws, and skin do offer augmentation to both Strength and Motility, but only Merin and Tor can make use of those items, as they provide no benefit for Sheldon.

OOC: After which there remains 2 usable hours of daylight.

Sheldon -
"We do not really need the daylight to analyze the items. Since we still have plenty of game, Indigo and I will help look for carbone and pietrazulfo, first."

GM: Detect Stones:
Range = Cohesion + Will
Effectiveness = Essence + Mind + Knowledge + Cohesion + Will + Wisdom +
Collegiate +...
Sheldon = 17 paces, 59%, Tor = 14 paces, 48%, Merin = 16 paces, 63%
Time = rarity * days / (Effectiveness + conduit + luck)

[sblock=Carbone]Time = 2 days / (59 + 48 + 63 + 100 + 60) = 8.72 minutes[/sblock]
GM: In just under 9 minutes, the 3 are able to search the area, but only a trivial amount can be found.

[sblock=Pietrazulfo]Time = 4 days / (59 + 48 + 63 + 100 + 97 + 99) = 12.36 minutes[/sblock]
GM: In just over 12 minutes the 3 are able to search the area for Pietrazulfo; but again, only a trivial amount can be found.

Day 47: The Return Trip, Day 12, Part 4

@Kwargrow
OOC: per text

Bolo looks over the collected items hoping to specifically determine if one or more of them might be used to augment the inexplicable component of essence that governs the existence of life (Adhesion).
GM: Identify Way:
Range = Cohesion + Will +...
Effectiveness = Essence + Mind + Cohesion + Knowledge + Will + Wisdom +...
Collegiate + Aberrative / Academic / Theologic +..
Time = complexity * days / (Effectiveness + Luck)
Bolo = 64, Indigo = 60, Sannit = 47, Saemund = 51

[sblock=Identify Adhesion]Time = 8 days / (64 + 82) = 1.32 hours[/sblock]
GM: Bolo, though able to do so, quickly realizes that it would be more efficient to involve some of the others not already occupied.

[sblock=Identify Adhesion]Time = 8 days / (64 + 60 + 47 + 51 + 97 + 92) = 28 minutes[/sblock]
GM: With the help of Indigo, Sannit, and Saemund, Bolo is able to separate several items from the collection, in just under 30 minutes.

OOC: Items that Augment Adhesion:
1 Carrion Feather Talisman
3 Black Stones
3 Weasel Skull Talismans
3 Fisher Claw Talismans

Tor spends a little time later that evening (about 30 minutes) wrestling and mock-fighting with Myth; he is hoping that the cat will pick up on some of his feints and other maneuvers, thereby learning to better defend itself. Each little "slap" is playful, but carefully measured to attract Myth's attention.

Merin spends the evening hours making a map to the vein of Aluminum, taking the time to record details, using little, self-invented symbols to record landmarks.

Day 47: The Return Trip, Day 12, Part 5

As the light begins to fade, Sheldon gathers the various ingots of metal together to identify their uses, since he has a particular affinity for metal, setting aside the ones he already knows.
GM: Identify Way:
Range = Cohesion + Will + Theologic...
Effectiveness = Essence + Mind + Cohesion + Knowledge + Will + Wisdom +...
Collegiate + Theologic +...
Time = complexity * days / (Effectiveness + Luck)
Sheldon = 64

[sblock=Will]Time = 4 days / (64 + 99 + 65) = 25.26 minutes[/sblock]
[sblock=Strength]Time = 5 days / (64 + 76) = 51.42[/sblock]
GM: It takes less than half an hour to identify 2 ingots that augment Will, and almost another hour to identify a single ingot that augments Strength. The other 2 ingots will have to wait for another day.

OOC: Metals:
2 Unknown Ingots
1 Zinc Ingot: Health
1 iron Ingot: Confluence
1 Aluminum Ingot: Motility
1 Copper Ingot: Will & Persona
2 Magnesium Ingots: Will
1 Chromium Ingot: Strength

Sheldon keeps the Chromium and 1 ingot of Magnesium. The rest he returns to the collection.

Saemund spends his evenings practicing with his axe and doing calisthenics in order to increase his speed, proficiency, and strength with his axes. He also practices with his throwing axes in order to improve accuracy with them. As he practices with his throwing axes he uses way to feel for his targets...in this case particular trees, and the occasional lizard attempting to crawl up said tree.

Day 48: The Return Trip, Day 12

The previous night was blessedly free of rain. The constant wetness was starting to chafe. This particular route is expected to save the Seekers 3 days on the return. The day is peaceable and uneventful. Evening brings the party back to the main branch of the Southroad River, indicating that 4 days west should bring them back to town.
OOC: Village Items:
7 various colored Stones
27 various Bone Talismans

OOC: Feather Talismans:
7 Thrush Feathers
2 Songbird Feathers
2 Stork Feathers
1 Wading Bird Feathers
1 Swift Feathers
1 Raptor Feathers
1 Flicker Feathers

OOC: Items that Augment Persona:
4 Calling Bird Feather Talismans
2 Shiny Yellow Stones
1 Tin Ingot
5 Bird Skulls
4 pairs Bird's Feet

OOC: Items that Augment Adhesion:
1 Carrion Feather Talisman
3 Black Stones
3 Weasel Skull Talismans
3 Fisher Claw Talismans

OOC: Metals:
2 Unknown Ingots
1 Zinc Ingot: Health
1 iron Ingot: Confluence
1 Aluminum Ingot: Motility
1 Copper Ingot: Will & Persona
2 Magnesium Ingots: Will
1 Chromium Ingot: Strength

Sheldon takes some time to identify a few more of the acquired items.

OOC: Items that Augment Health:
2 Shiny Grey Stones
9 Rodent Skulls

OOC: Items that Augment Confluence:
9 Duck Feathers
2 Shiny Burgundy Stones
4 Shiny Purple Stones
6 Pig Tusk Talismans

OOC: Merin will take a Weasel Skull and a Pig Tusk (Adhesion and Confluence), and Tor will take a Weasel Skull, and if the Pig Tusk is better than his current Confluence augment, he will take one of those as well.

Day 48: The Return Trip, Day 12, Part 2

Tor will take a Weasel Skull, and if the Pig Tusk is better than his current Confluence augment, he will take one of those as well.
Tor takes the 6 pairs of pig tusks as compared to the iron in his sword.
GM: Gage Augmentation:
Effectiveness = Essence + Mind + Cohesion + Knowledge + Will +...
Collegiate + Aberrative +...
Time = complexity * days / (Effectiveness + Luck)
Tor = 50

[sblock=Gage Confluence]Time = 3 days / (50 + 66) = 37.24 minutes[/sblock]
GM: It takes Tor a bit over half an hour but he is able to determine that 2 of the Tusk Talismans offer greater augmentation than the others and his sword. Since it is already fashioned into a rudimentary necklace, he hangs it about his neck.

OOC: Boar Tusk Talisman:
Hemostasis +2, Fulfillment x3, Despair +2
If the talisman is used for either Fulfillment or Despair, it will be destroyed in the process.
