What kind of spells, if any, may be used in sneak attacks?

Just about any spell that requires an attack roll and deals damage. Check out page 79 of the Tome and Blood. They cover this pretty well.

What kreynolds said. Also, the spells are limited to the same restrictions as ranged weapon sneak attacks - must be within 30ft - IIRC.

This assumes, of course, that your DM is a mental midget and hasn't rule-0'd much of this stupidity away.

Sorry, but a Ray of Frost shouldn't have the potential to do 10d6+d3 points of damage. Yeah, I know. You freeze the ogre's eyeball, right? No -- you shoot the ray into his ear, freezing his brain. Yeah, that's it.

IMO, in general, no touch attack -- ranged or otherwise -- should be able to do sneak-attack damage. But hey, if you're a player, and you can get away with it . . . go for it.

Hey, why not just rule zero that you can't sneak attack with a dagger. What? 10d6+d4 points of damage against an ancient red dragon with a dagger!!! You stabbed it in the eye...no, you stab it through the ear, into its brain and twisted it around.

I resent being called a mental midget because *you* don't like a rule that I'm ok with.

That was rather unnecessarily inflammatory language. The question was for how the rules work, and the answer was brief and correct. I, for one, welcome all input, but not when delviered in this fashion.

I refer, of course, to the "mental midget" remark, as well as the overall tone of your post.

Hohoho! Go Ice! :D Now this is entertainment!

See, I don't mind people having different opinions - different strokes, for different folks, right :). I just don't like inflammatory language :)

First off, it's bad form to start off an opinion by insulting anyone who disagrees with you. What is your problem with this? From a balance standpoint, I don't see how this is overly powerful. A few times per day the rogue/wizard can cast a touch spell and deal sneak attack damage. Wow. Note, that he won't have 10d6 because of the wizard levels. Instead of doing this, the rogue could launch 3 or 4 arrows or move in to get a flank/full attack for 3 or 4 sneak attacks. It's perfectly plausible to me that a rogue/wizard can sneak attack w/touch spells. If it's that big of a deal to you, make it a normal attack instead of touch if they want sneak attack damage. But please, spare us the bs about how everyone who doesn't agree with YOU is stupid.
