Okay, I'm about halfway done the round, but my wife wants my attention, so it's gonna have to wait until tomorrow. Expect me to resolve it in the next 12 hours or so!

5e has added a lot of spells that do damage not when you cast it, but at the start or end of a foe's turn. In some cases this makes sense as it can prevent some abuses (spiritual guardians and running around...) but it can also make it harder to adjudicate.

edit: and yes, wife attention is important :)

She sometimes get frustrated that I 'ignore' her while on my laptop. I don't want my PBP games to get me in trouble!

And yes, the Lizardfolk don't usually expect to see too much AoE magic, especially not something like fireball. They expect their enemies to run in terror from their Croczilla (and fail to outpace it and get eaten!)

I had considered dropping a lv 4 shatter spell and seeing what it would do to their platform. But that, by the rules would be useless as it's being 'carried' by the croc.

Playtesting Pathfinder2 has made me a little more strict regarding action economy - specifically when it comes to what's in your hands.

With that in mind, @Fradak Lorenn probably accomplished too much on his turn. When you started, you'd be holding a paddle. Sure, you could drop it, but that would probably leave it in the water, otherwise putting it away counts as your 'one free object interaction'.

Assuming you drop it, which I'm sure you would, pulling out your hoverboard, getting on it, moving a full move, and casting a spell with a material component (I'm not actually sure if getting out a material component takes your 'free object interaction' or not, though getting out an implement in its place does).

At any rate, I'm not going to backtrack at all, and I don't want to be too fussy about it, but keep it in mind, everyone!

Ok with all you said. So if Lorenn could only do half movement, it's 30 feet. If the croczilla dashes out of the void, it could be at 60 feet of Lorenn (web range). And we are back on rails.

(I usually do my best to keep my post as RAW as possible. So here is how I saw this. I checked on the flying broom (reskinned board) and saw no action was necessary to get on it. When I did my post I was not aware about the action needed to get out of the kayak. And I don't think the spell component part require an interaction. I'm not arguing, just explaining how I came to this action.)

I think that for the spell components the main thing is having a free *hand*. It's one of the reasons when I switch from Malbung to Kalorn I took a 2 handed weapons - it's easy to hold it with one hand and cast with the other (then re-grab it with the casting hand).

Getting out of the kayak would be half your movement as per earlier post, so you won't be as far ahead.

If it's possible, one of Kalorn's priority will be getting an item to boost his speed - slow meleeist isn't fun. But maybe this time the melee will come to us.

I don't think I'd enforce that worn or carried exception here.

Speaking of which, I've been having a heck of a time moving my icon around. Seven Lizardfolk, a platform, a web spell, and my original croc was made up of parts, because for some dumb reason I thought it would look better that way. It's taking me forever to futz around with the map. I've spent even longer now making a new Icon for the critter.

You see, in 5e even creatures that are, say, 120 feet long, roll up into a "fighting ball" (it kinda makes sense, actually) so that they occupy a nice square space, so that you don't have to worry about facing. I tried to make my croc all long so that it looked cool, but it's making it hard for me to tell where it "occupies". So I made a new square one, occupying it's "official" gargantuan-size space.

Trouble is, then it was lost under everything that's on top of it. SOOOO... It also has a 10' reach, so I grew the icon out to its reach size. Of course, then I'm back to being a little confused by what it actually occupies. SOOOO... I made a square in the middle, which is it's actual by-the-rules-gargantuan-space. The rest is it's reach. (This is why you'll see Lorenn within the croc's space - though he'll be there anyway if he gets swallowed!)

I'll keep working on it... hang in there. Almost there.

You're right. Going through it it works fine if Lorenn dropped his paddle I move him back a bit. Just nobody audit my positions! It was a lot of work moving the icons around!
