31 playable creature types is IMO about 25 too many. Most of those 25 were once seen as monsters, and worked better that way.

I voted here the same than in the survey. First two were easy. Humans and halflings. With the third I could have gone many ways, but I voted orcs. I think they need to be in the next PHB as a core race.
I think its quite possible.

My own setting downplayed (Half-Elf) or removed (Half-Orc) these options. I'm curious why Half-Elf is so popular here, because yeah I would not be sad if they dropped them in the next PHB (I know they wont, backward compatible, yadda yadda).

Adding Orcs, and then having Elf, Half Elf, Human, Half Orc, Orc...sure.

Originally went Human, Halfling and Dwarf, but then I realized I played two Gnomes in 5e and not a single Halfling so I switched them around :p

I love kenku as NPCs. But as PCs, in my experience, their signature trait is often ignored.
To be fair, truly playing into the mimicry as a PC would likely get old fast. I very much stand behind the advice in the book: just say “my character makes the sound of X to communicate Y,” and assume it’s clear enough for the other PCs to understand. Otherwise the game gets bogged down in annoying impressions and trying to guess what the heck that screeching noise was supposed to mean.
