[Adventure] Serpent's Skull: Souls for Smuggler's Shiv (DM: Mewness; Judge: THB)

Kane catches his breath a moment as he returns with the last of the materials for the shelter. He overhears the discussion about hiding the shelter and furrows his brow as he thinks how he could make himself useful. He begins adjusting the colour of the brought material with the surrounding flora using his magic that he hopes won't wear off until the light fades. When all is done he also dedicates a moment to smoothing away the large amounts of muddy foot prints coming and going towards the house with his spectral telekenetic hand, before returning with the others.

OOC: Cool beans

The Captain climbs up into a tree to stand on a branch while he whispers to Sasha. She looks at him for a moment, a bit puzzled. He apparently explains something else and then she nods. Voices are kept low to keep the conversation quiet.

He spends some time rallying his men, but the chaos appears too much for him. Frustrated, he drags a baker's dozen of his men to Kane. Each of them have a bundle of spider silk. "We figured this might be of use, but the men just can't seem to do anything with it."

OOC: Aid another; Using Nature to Aid @jbear in this turn's roll

OOC: Drat for posting at the same time!

OOC: Lol, looks like we posted at the same time. I think I can only use arcana to Aid someone else. I was thinking Aid you on Nature would be the best. I'm guessing your wisdom is high and you're trained. You can't roll a 1 every single time (can you?). Maybe we can aid someone stealthy to hide the camp?

OOC: Of course I can't roll a 1 every time. Sometime I roll 2s. Maybe even as high as a 4 on a good day (see above).

The Irregulars (specifically the Captain) were mostly planning on boosting Kane's self esteem by having him lead the last leg of the shelter building.

OOC: Hehe, alright ... well, for the benefit of moving on Kane is going to make the effort to impress his usefulness and gratefulness upon the group for his rescue. I'm not sure where that leaves all that messing around with the Arcane, but if I have to use an AP then no worries (can I benefit from helping myself? :) . Hehehe ...). I'll use Heroic surge on the check, spending a second HSurge and take the captains advice for the +2 Aid benefit giving me a total of 7 + 2 + 2 = +11 ...fingers crossed! EnWorld Dice roller doesn't have much love for me either, and i haven't had time to register myself on the other site.

Kane follows the captain's wise instructions to hide the campsite from view, putting in a huge effort, eager to impress his usefulness upon his rescuers.

OOC: Lol, I had a funny feeling ....

The campsite begins to look like a natural part of the surrounds, Kane sweating with the effort in the muggy air. Quite suddenly his foot loses grip in the slippery mud and he puts all of his wait on his bad leg. The pain that lances from shin to knee is reflected on his shocked face as he loses balance and falls back on the shelter. The camoflage he had worked to hard to construct falls down upon his head covering all but his feet. When he finally crawls out covered in mud and leaves all he can manage is to stammer:

"S-s-s-s-sorry ..."

GM: Ouch.

I'll disregard Kane's aid another attempt as there wasn't anything for him to aid (so no action point spent; Kane can still spend one if he wants to help somebody else).

5/6 successes. 1/3 failures.

All vital tasks completed (just need one more success).

Remember the Helpful NPCs
Aerys: Athletics +6, Bluff +8
Jade: (no useful skills)
Sasha

OOC: Looks like we'll need a DC 19 no matter what we do. My best is Bluff at +11, so I could do the "convince an NPC" thing again, or we could go with nature or such. Anyone want to volunteer to make the final roll? If we screw it up, there's always APs.

OOC: Mewness, if we decide to try Build the Shelter, can we have more than one person able to Aid Another? I mean, it makes sense to have at least 2 people able to give +2's for this task, because it is a pretty significant, work-intensive task.

OOC: Sorry for the epic-failure triple post. My internet was lagging, so I clicked 'post' a couple times because it wasn't working. Guess it WAS working. D:
