Hey y'all!

Just giving you a quick headsup.

I will be out of pocket from (approximately) July 13-July 25, and again from August 13-August 23.

It is likely that I won't be available then, and if there is any need to move the game along and I haven't been checking in on those dates, please feel free to move Doc around with the usual laconic energy, moseyin' and shootin' and lookin' for some smoke and likker.

Sorry for the slow response this week, gang - we were finally starting to get some momentum back! I hope we can keep it and that this was only a little blip. Between all those PHB previews, my wife returning from her trip, and my son graduating highschool, it was a busy week.

No worries, and congratulations on the graduation! That's always a fun time, ameliorated by the knowledge that they're adulting (albeit poorly) and moving on to being their own fully independent human being, who will still come home with suitcases of dirty laundry.

I posted my round to move this along- I was farming for a crit to end the HG, but no luck. So close! If we continue (and I want to continue) I'd like permission at the next "level up" or whatnot to have a look at some of my warlock choices. I realize now, that while I love my character (and they are surprisingly more effective than I thought), I ended up choosing a whole bunch of things that trigger off of bonus actions and therefore never get used.

Hey gang,

Congrats @FitzTheRuke on your son’s graduation!

I’d also like to revisit some choices for my character. I realize now that I have too many concentration spells, so once one is running he lacks options. Either next level or mane a slight re-write now would be cool.

I'm okay with you updating him now, as long as you haven't used any of the spells that you ditch (at least not since the last long rest) - Edit: Same for you, @Snarf Zagyg! I feel like the next Level Up is probably a long way off, real-time wise.

My son graduated this year too. Prom parties and grad ceremonies all around!

If Donnell levels, I might like some advice from the group on things. I'll probably go fighter to 5th level. He has Shield Mastery, so I may take one of those feats that gives expertise in a skill and give him Athletics Expertise to more easily trip/push enemies with his bonus action.

That said, I'm not sure if that's a good choice, given that he uses his bonus action a lot for cunning action. He's going to go skirmisher-type tactics. Knocking people prone is helpful for our melee combatants but not so much for ranged. Any advice or wisdom people would like to share?

Here are some of the spell change I was thinking of. Please lmk if you are ok with these:

Swap Mind sliver to vicious mockery (psionic spell) & Swap create bondfire to mind sliver
Note: I'm basically swapping create bondfire for vicious mockery, but vicious mockery needs to be on the psionic spell list for this to be legal. I'm looking for Gimlak to have a second cantrip he can use regularly, I'm kind of getting sick of mindwhip (although it's a great cantrip) and like having a second option.

Swap calm emotions for feather fall
The colonel has calm emotions, so no need for redundancy. Falling is a stupid way to die in dnd, and I hate myself for not preventing the falling damage last combat.

Swap Banishment level to animate objects level
The colonel has banishment, and I like the idea of Gimlak animating a bunch of things to serve the party's purpose.

Swap improved invisibility to polymorph
Hmmm, a whirling mess of tentacles that use the T rex stat block. Juicy! ;-)

After a full review, my options are a lot more limited than I thought!

Proposed change and reason for it-

Maddening Hex to Eldritch Smite. Two of my three invocations I can't change. I don't use maddening hex because it triggers on bonus action, and I have a lot more uses for bonus action. I was hoping to find some other cool invocation, but ... nope. So Eldritch Smite. To give you a heads up, it will add a bunch of damage once (or twice) per short rest- it burns a spell slot for damage. LMK. If not, I'd like to swap for Eldritch Mind (advantage on concentration checks).

Given I'm looking at Eldritch Smith, I'm not going to mess with the spell list. So ...

(Also, I just realized I have uncanny dodge. I feel like the player in my one of my games who had played his fighter up to 5th level and then asked, "What is second wind?")

Two cents- I'd love a short rest, but given that there is an attack going on, we should press the advantage. South Door?

I think the Colonel would benefit most from a short rest, but I say press on to the South Door.
