[Angel] 2/11/04 *Spoilers*

When I said *gifts* I was refering to whatever it was W&H gave to each member in trade for the deal. WIth Gunn having his little lapse I wonder if people might start to remember Conor, or if Conor will start to remember Angel & Co.

You know he has his own calendar!

um, really? like, just various action shots of him or a, *ehem* Calendar?

:D

the main thing that jumped out at me about the episode was that the navigator was very tom cruise-y. i mean, its like Lorn got on the phone and had tom cruise retro-aged and sent in for a guest spot. (do you think w&h owns cruise? he's a scientoligist, which could be evil...) I know its a silly thing, but everytime he was on screen it just jumped out at me all over again....

and spike is a cutie even without the platinum look. ;)

I like flahsback eps, and the roots of the initiative were interesting. other than that, yeah, the ep was blah, made worse by my having read some extensive spoilers on it.

I enjoyed that episode. Say what you will about Spike, but I think that episode would have been really boring if it wasn't for his presence. I also appreciate the Captain America refrence and the Prince of Lies (that dude was cool).

The preview for the next episode just looks disturbing. If I was a long-time Angle fan, I'd probably jump off a bridge or something.

It looked like action shots, I was at Waldenbooks and was picking up a horse calendar for a friend and there it was right next to the swimsuit models and beefcake calendars. I use to see Buffy calendars but now Spike, all Spike, I don't think I have ever seen an Angel calendar.

Actually, I thought the navigator looked very much like Mark Harmon...

And I have no idea what to make of those previews, but I know I'll be watching!

Crewman Lawson is definitely the DNA amalgamation of Mark Harmon and Tom Cruise. :) (I would say love child, but that would be physically impos- waitaminute, this is the "Buffyverse" we're talking about here...)

The show was fun, but somewhat of a letdown after last week's show, and definitely filler. A lot of fans have been disappointed with things so far, and with last week's show, it made this one stand out more. Well, for me, that, and the rather good Smallville episode...

The one thing I DID get a kick out of was the initiative tie-in, or did anyone else get that the U.S.'s "new" 1943 Demon Research Initiative was interested in getting their hands on Nazi Technology to mind-control Vampires?... I was amused that Spike wound up being a test-monkey AFTER all - albeit 55 years after the fact. :)

yeah, I liked that twist, and the whole "US takes on morally sketchy tech from the defeated nazis" angle certainly wasn't outside of the realm of history.

One thing though - they refer to the initiative as a expereimental new organization - but in the final buffy ep where the sunnydale facility is shut down, they refer to the initiative as "an expereiment that has failed." So do they keep trying the same thing and happening to come up with the same name, or is the initiative a sort of shadow organization the military haskept behind the governements backs for a while and they just occasional try for recognition as a 'new' operation? The second does make sense with how much of the org survived to dojungle warfare in later buffy eps.

I was painting miniatures and listened to the show more than I watched it, but except for the ending I thought the show was pretty good. They made good use of spike and all of his positive attributes and the other demon & vampire were very entertaining. The ending was so bad, except for wheret Angel kicks the dudes butt with little effort, that is could have ruined the light hearted fun adventure that made up the first half. I especially liked the fact that they made fun of the poor security in W&H.

I don't mind fluff episodes as they are usually some of the most memmorable ones. There is not much of a continuing story anyway, as far as the characters are concerned, the two people who have been causing difficulties are gone. Now they can run their evil empire in relative peace.

I agree, KnowtheToe -- the Nazi stuff was fun, but the sailorvamp's plan for vengeance was laughably bad and only worked because Angel is a GFM (Giant Freakin' Moron). Why, when Angel entered the room with his companions tied up, did he let sailorvamp go?!

Sailorvamp's plan would've been better if he'd gone ahead and killed Angel's friends, and brought Angel in to see their bodies. Or if he'd wanted to negotiate with Angel instead of just screwing him over (and if the scriptwriters had wanted a plan for revenge that wouldn't end the show), he was good with technology, right? He could've set them up with a nifty little electronically-activated decapitator-noose, complete with flashy lights and beeps and stuff, and gloated to Angel that the nooses were entirely under his control. That would've required minimal extra work (how long would it take for Props to come up with little flashy light things to put on the nooses?) and would've made his plan vaguely reasonable. As it was, it only worked because of the GFM factor.

But yeah, the rest of the episode was pretty fun. I loved Prince of Lies.

A question that just hit me...What if sailorVamp was working for the government all this time, could this be a way of bring in The Initiative either as foe or a government take over. :)

Oh, as many of you know I am sorry as hell as seeing what is coming in Angel.
