2. Humano-Cylons can apparently physically interface with computers via fiber-optic cables, although it's clear they aren't meant to do it under normal circumstances. Since they appear identical to humans except under the closest possible analysis, they probably have some kind of organic cells that are light sensitive/bioluminescent that can interface with the hardware.
This may be stretching a bit but now the glowing back of Six in the pilot makes a tiny bit of sense. Fiber-optic spinal fluid/column, maybe?

3. The Colonials now have a stealth fighter, I wonder how it will play out. It's built for speed, very hard to spot on dradis, and apparently quite hard to handle. Not a dogfighter, but an excellent recon/scout ship. With the apparent success of the prototype we may be seeing a small number of others built.
I realy liked the idea of building a new class of fighter being cathardic and bringing the crew together. And stumbling across the stealth concept was great.

5. Destroying a cylon armada and building the first of a new class of fighter seems to have given the fleet a real morale boost, something they haven't had since this really began. This is one of the few BSG episodes to really end on an unblemished "up" moment.
What about "Hand of God" from Season 1 where Apollo takes out the Cylon base which is made possible by Starbuck's battle plan? I call this victory number 2. :)

The CAG roster on the Sci-Fi website has 12 active Vipers and 23 down for repair. But that was last updated last season.
Ah, cool. I forgot that the site was keeping count.

Where'd they get so many Vipers, though? They were down to 12 at Kobol ... and it looked like they had about 40.
It didn't seem like 40. More like 20 to me. But then again, there was alot of metal flying around out there. And speaking of metal...

Did anyone else's eyes nearly pop out of their sockets when the cylon armada came pulsing in like a huge net with the X formations all linked together?

Waitasec! Why is Ensign Ro all of a sudden an Admiral...

Yeah. Cool battle formation -- very ominous.

I also got a kick out of the blood and guts spilling out of the Cylon fighters as they were cut in half by Viper fire. I hadn't noticed that in earlier fight scenes -- makes Cylon biomechanics seek that much more real.

My thoughts on the episode.

While I liked this episode this bothered me. If you can interact with computers it should be easier to tell who is a cylon and who is not. There has to be something biological they can look for that humans don't have that doesn't require an all day blood test. An x-ray, MRI, CAT scan. Grrrrrrr.

I still think its going way to far too assume there are factions within the Cylons...honestly, there's nothing at all supporting that. Just different models programmed to think differently, but still working together. As for why the Cylons would attack with Boomer there...well, if they get killed, obviously they weren't worthy of any of this and it becomes an 'oh well.' It really seems more like the Cylons constantly testing both the humans and love(in the fact that Boomer is still with them).

As I recall from the episode where Starbuck trains new pilots, Apollo told her the problem was they had about 40 fighters but only about 20 pilots. They've been pretty consistent about that, I think. Now they apparently have enough pilots for the vipers.

Seems that the writers and/or animators were making a bit of a "Homeworld" homage. After all, the video game's story line is very similar to the BSG storyline.

"X formation locked in"

"Assuming X formation"

:)

LOL! I knew I had seen that actor before! It's too bad Lloyd Bridges isn't with us anymore, he would have been the most amazing cameo. I had the great priviledge of meeting him and his wife about 12 years ago. A real class act.

Speaking of the original series, it seems that they're going to keep the basic "Commander of the Pegasus is a mavric who doesn't take orders well" from the old show. I wonder what else they'll keep?

Oh, yes. That game was the first thing I thought of. I wanted to reach for my keyboard & mouse...

That was a *very* cool effect. It was so fast that I thought I imagined it. Had to back the TiVo up later on just to check. :)
