Once again I must state that I pray that Boomer doesn't become 6 of 3556894. If in the end they all think she is the Good Cylon then it's revealed that is all part of the Cylon plan to screw them up/manipulate them I'll be happy.
I think that Boomer is part of the plan, but the Cylon plan isn't total annhilation (if they wanted the entire human race extinct, they wouldn't be saving humans as breeding stock).

Boomer had another chance to kill Adama, and instead thwarted it, and she was wired directly into the Galactica's computers, and instead of crippling it, she destroyed a Cylon fleet.

The Cylons are manipulating humanity, pushing them, goading them. They've had their chance to finish off Galactica or key human figures more than once. Cylon priorities regarding Galactica seem to have changed after they found Kobol (but I think Galactica-Boomer's assassination directives had already been activated, and it's shown they aren't in constant contact, and she was driven nearly crazy already by the evidence she really was a Cylon when she was on the Base Star).

I think the Cylon "Master Plan" is for at least some humans to survive, and fulfill the prophecy (and the Cylons have placed a very high priority on biological reproduction, which has to involve humans because of limitations the Cylons have), and to find Earth. The Cylons claim they know more about human religion and history than the Colonials, and they have a monotheistic belief system (that in some places is outright Abrahamic).

The exodus from Kobol was only 3000 years ago, which means that Earth can't have been settled by settlers from Kobol (like was implied in the original series). Instead, I think the show is actually in the far future, after Earth is abandoned for Kobol many centuries/millennia in the future, then Kobol is left for 12 colonies, but one group of humans returns to Earth, and retains older human belief systems instead of a polytheistic belief system deifying rulers of Kobol.

Thus, the Cylons, with their strong religious beliefs, want the Human prophecy to come true (with the caravan across the stars et al.) so they'll find Earth and be converted to a monotheistic belief system (and the Cylons will find people who share at least a form of their faith).

Thus when Caprica-Boomer became pregnant, and Galactica found Kobol and the way to Earth it became clear that for the Cylon plan to work, Galactica has to survive. They have to make it look like they are hunting Galactica, and keep them on the run, but in the end it's more like they are following them instead of chasing them.

He's like a train wreck in every way. You know it's going to be bad but I just can't tear my eyes away.
He's a terrible officer, and the series has made it crystal-clear that his career was on the ropes (his commission being reactivated as a favor from Adama, he was literally about to commit suicide when he got the notice he was reactivated), and he was on the eve of retirement when the Cylon holocaust happened.

If the Colonies had to actually choose a crew for one Battlestar to survive a cataclysmic battle with the Cylons and try and rebuild the human race, he wouldn't have just not been on the list, he wouldn't have been anywhere on the same planet as that list.

Would I like to serve with an officer like Tigh? No way. Do like like to watch it every week and see how long he can keep himself away from the bottle and if he can avoid screwing everything up, you bet.

The interesting thing about Tigh is that the guy is trying. He's just no Adama, and he knows it. That's probably a big part of his problem. Even he puts himself below Adama and won't really try to be a good officer like we've seen him be on a few occasions. Its just that damned wife of his and the alcohol. Keep those away, and Tigh's a good man and has a very good potential to be a great officer.

I'm on the opposite side of the issue. I'd find it boring if everything the Cylons planned and did worked out exactly as they wanted. A perfect villain is no more interesting to me than a perfect hero.

If the Cylons are truly sentient, then why wouldn't there be Cylons who oppose the genocide of the human race? If Cylons can truly feel, then why can't Boomer love her child, and perhaps others? And if she can love them, it's only natural that she fight for them.

I won't be upset if Boomer has truly turned against the Cylons. Not at all. It's the execution of that idea that's important. And as to that, we'll just have to wait and see.

My prediction: PreggoBoomer is on the up-and-up, in that she wants to live, and her baby to live. It's the consequences of the baby that need to be worried about.

Too me the whole Boomer thing feels like something that would happen in Star Trek, bad Star Trek that is. The idea that everything will be saved in the end because of Helo & the Cylon's love doesn't do it for me. YMMV.

Yeah, but don't forget that Baltar will steal the child.
