Desert...seriously...for egyptians deities. Mountain just doesnt cover it. They are too different.

"desert" is both too broad and too narrow I think.
It covers Heat, Lack of Water, Earth (sand), Sun, decay (erosion), etc.
If you have a desert deity, pick a portfolio most matching it's outlook. IE Is it a force of decay? a lord of Dryness?

Hey guys! :)

Slight change of plan, I won't be able to update tonight, I was unavoidably away from the computer for most of the day and could well be again tomorrow afternoon, but I should have enough time to get the update sorted either tomorrow night or sometime Sunday.

Just want to say the updated portfolios are already looking spiffy. :)

Well, they will get a lot better when I type up the final powers, but they are starting to resemble something like the final builds.

I think the portfolio weaknesses are pretty cool too.

Each will have between 2-4 when I am finished with them. One will probably be merely RPG flavour (like the Death god being sterile)

Ltheb Silverfrond said:
And some of the abilities have cool names.

Currently I am annoyed that I don't have different names for the single/double weaknesses, although many are really upgrades.

(Armageddon! Its worth spending 12 divine slots just to get this ability)

36 - Its transcendental. Although I do need to tweak those.

You do realize that Lament of the Road means a spellcaster can never prepare spells without invoking the penalty, right?

So don't be a travelling Wizard then.

I am sure there will probably be a number of elements that will alienate certain classes, which is just as well I have you guys to keep me honest. ;)

Some of the portfolios are just next to impossible to design certain powers for. The first ones of a Double Thievery portfolio would create a dimension of stealing - try explaining that in a sentence or two. :D

I have been struggling with the Labour portfolio spell list for I don't know how long now.

So there are a couple of real stinkers in there. There are about two dozen anomalies out of the 500 powers that are still giving me jip.

I find myself rather confused on the formula you use to determine how many ability slots an immortal receives for trading in artifacts.

Each artifact equals the Gods Divine Rank.

WarDragon said:
At first, I assumed it was one per point of LA difference between the template with and without extra equipment (so a Demigod, for example, would get 7 slots). But I've been looking over Surtr and Algol, and that just doesn't work. It also doesn't appear to be an amoung equal to the + value the artifacts would give, but somewhere between the two.

Am I missing something obvious? Is it just one esoteric ability per artifact traded?

Yes, it is obvious see above. Hope that helps dude. :)

Hi dante dude! :)

I'm not familiar with any 'Gods of the Desert'...who are they?

But personally I would just use the Sun template.

Set was one...Sekhmet was another. There were others Im sure.

I think desert should cover sand and offer resistance (not immunity) to both cold and fire. Since the desert is freezing by night and incinerating by day. Dehydration is caused by the heat which cooks you. Fire resistance would cover that.

Get the Hamunaptra setting from Green Ronin. It might help a lot. Id send you mine but that might not be legal.

So, a monstrous greater god would have 64 extra abilities? Cool.

Oh, another question; if an immortal has DR x/- higher than his divine DR (say from Barbarian levels and the Epic feat), does he qualify for other abilities as if he had the Perfect Damage Reduction divine ability?

This should be noted in the section on giving "monsters" extra abilities to make up for loss of artifacts, to be fair. I've started building some of my own (notably that Sidereal my PCs know about) and was using dante's "1 esoteric ability per lost artifact" rule- so this Sidereal got itself four Transcendentals. That isn't how you're doing it with the latest update?
