Hey UK,

I know I'm bugging you with this one, but really have to agree with Pssthpok, if you still add new material you'll never finish the book. And instead of trying to get 2 chapters done at the same time I would prefer that you work at the powers section for the next update and try to finish it once and for all; as it should have been done some weeks ago ;)
It's really annyoing to hear something will be finished, you and your fellow gamers wait anticipated for it and then it gets delayed and delayed with only more promises.
I'm speaking now only about the power section, not the book at all; I understand the delay completely for the whole product.
Well, nevertheless head up and we all know you do you best :)

Be sure to recheck the divinity templates themselves, some of them seem to possess divine abilities that no longer exist or have been altered. Aside from that, excellent work as usual.

Hiya mate! :)

UK,
It's nice that the divine abilities are closer to being done, but the prolific amount of cut/paste work in the Portfolio chapter doesn't seem like a 10 day's worth of update...

Your totally right. I went off on a tangent creating all these new powers and fixing existing ones, fixing the formatting of the powers (for the umpteenth time), that by the time I started thinking about doing more work on chapter three, I only had a few days left. Getting all the basics down took longer than expected. I also had a new idea for the way to develop the portfolios which was why I didn't want to start doing more work to the lower half of the text incase I went with the change.

Its hard to explain why Chapter 4 is taking so long though, its like two steps forward one step back. But I have got to the point where I am no longer going to add anymore powers, for my sanity if nothing else. So I just pray I can get that out of the way once and for all.

I wish. ;)

Just keep in mind that if you keep adding material, you'll never finish the book. The longer you leave the book open-ended like this, the more material people could get through this pre-order schtick and still be justified in asking for their money back.
What are we looking at now, as far as releases? Up to 1.6, at least, by the rate the text has been progressing?

I know, its a sprawling nightmare, but I am almost on top of it. What won't be immediately apparent to you guys is that the book has grown by 16 pages.

Hi Fieari mate! :)

I know, thanks for the support. No sense editing an unfinished chapter, so I'll just have to get stuff done.

You guys are right to bug me. If I carry on adding new stuff the book would end up 500 pages and out next November.

I keep worrying about things like "Maybe Rangers don't have enough abilities", "Why don't I have divine/cosmic progression for Weapon Finesse" and other such nonsense. When the reality is that I have created probably more feats/abilities than that previous ten Wizards of the Coast supplements.

Powers finished for definite in a few days time...its high time I slew that particular dragon.

You know I was getting ready to upload the new document yesterday when I noticed I actually had Improved Power Attack as both an epic feat and a Divine Ability. My brains just been totally fried by the 500+ powers.

Hey you two! :)

Hi there Frobojoe!

I'm using wealth values as in the version 4 of UK's Challenging Challenge Rating documents, that's how I came up with those numbers. Basically, it states that PC wealth = level³*100, NPC wealth = level³*25.

While I don't know yet whether this level of wealth is appropriate for this level of power (since I've never played at this level), I know the formula is not applicable in play :(

To determine perfect wealth in v6:

ECL divided by 2, number squared, x 40,000.

e.g. ECL 100 = (50 x 50 = 2500) x 40,000 = 100,000,000

e.g. ECL 40 = (20 x 20 = 400) x 40,000 = 16,000,000

e.g. ECL 60 = (30 x 30 = 900) x 40,000 = 36,000.000

...in fact I am wondering if its divide by 10, squared, x 1,000,000

e.g. ECL 50 = (5 x 5 = 25) x 1,000,000

Using other method

e.g. ECL 50 = (25 x 25 = 625) x 40,000 = 25,000,000

Okay, so it seems that works both ways. The latter seems the easiest to work out without a calculator so I'll go with that.

I wonder does it work at 20 or below...?

e.g. ECL 20 = (2 x 2 = 4) x 1,000,000 = 4,000,000....okay, apparently not.

Where is the acceptable cut off point...?

e.g. ECL 30 = (3 x 3 = 9) x 1 million = 9 million, still too high.

So it seems as if ECL 40 is the lowest point where you can employ this system.

Just wanted to chip in to say that, like the others, I'd also rather see a complete Ascension than a huge but forever incomplete one. BUt it seems clear you agree on that. :-)

Also, I really should have mentioned this before, but if your product isn't finished, then after version 0.9 you should really have version 0.10. I'm certainly finding it hard to parse in my brain the existence of a 1.6 that still isn't done. ;-)

Query: is there a paticular dude you've got helping out on the artwork now? And what's the ETA looking like on the print bestiary, is that entirely out of your hands now?

This new, "perfect" method doesn't match up very well with the (level cubed * 100). They match at CR 100, but before that the (level squared * 10 000) method gives you a higher result.

I wanted to ask you the best way of playtesting a creature's CR is. What you've found the most reliable method to be; e.g. do you take 4 of them, find out what level group they are a moderate (25%) challenge for, and then work backward from the EL, or what?
